Just moved to the neighborhood from Harlem! That being said.. I can go ANYWHERE between here and there to get groceries! I can go to the East Harlem and get my Latin products as well..( culantro not cilantro...is one..avocado leaves another.....for example)....BUT I take the express home every night and one nite I took the local for a short cut to my apartment..BROOKLYN FARE! .. I'm in Knickerboker Village..NOT the projects!! I'm black ... professional.... female....and still I'm used to being followed around any store!!!... Tonight I'm having trouble with my phone internet..Again.....it happens every time I go in..I've gotten used to unlocking my charge card before I go in. The women staff have ALWAYS helped me with the internet, and then I pay and leave.. I always felt welcomed by that superior customer service... I feel entitled to it because of my spending in any store..... WEGMANS.. Morton Williams..TJ's or WF!!!! Tonight..whoever the Manager is..profiled me..didn't help me with the " store wifi "..embarrassed me about it... loud and superior... OK... after I put back all but one item..cause nowadays who has cash in their pockets??!! This guy has more criticism about me stealing the store wifi!!!!! Obviously, if I am having an issue with my mobile data..I'm not there to shop..(I keep my bank card LOCKED regularly) I'm there to STEAL the store wifi! So yeah..now I'm SWB (shopping while black) in my own neighborhood, new supermarket! How long will I avoid this guy and lug my groceries from uptown!!! BTW...I called around 5/ 6 to ask about an item..No Answer?!!.. then after this incident tonight..7/8 ish...I called to ask for a superior..No Answer still..and I do think the PRODUCE should get an...
Read moreI was invisible to them. Being in a wheelchair you would think u get services. A hello. The register setup did not have wheelchairs in mind. I was bumped to 3 registers, and no one service me. The man standing there kept saying ok" no eye contact while he was more concerned. For the higher first-class customers. For being open for a few days. The communication should be in place how to cash people out and ask if you need help. I worked for retail over 21 years, and I made sure every human kind would get a smile and talk w me. Etc The woman cashier kept saying, "Oh wow!! To how I was treated by the man, she didn't even service me. A huge family of 4 was being served. Taking all the exit space. I couldn't exit. Due to her shopping cart and her baby stroller, etc, compromised the exit for everyone. Etc I went around back the way i came from, but it is only one small exit if its block u have to wait .....They need to take in mind wheelchairs are lower and not seen I have to really think again before I shop there again. The registers are not set up properly, and customer service is better with those w high class look. My chair was in everyone's way. i didn't know where to go. apparently. I'm so disappointed. The cleaningness and organized aisle a plus. Prices for now are a plus. That will change. I wish it was a better experience. Let see how my son, who has an afro and brown skin who works, will be treated when he comes in. I'm so...
Read moreFruit went bad pretty rather quickly, I was disappointed 4 out of 5 times with the fruit. The peaches especially, were dark brown inside and hard on the inside as if they were frozen and then put out to ripen? I’ve also seen workers PICKING out BAD berries and reclaiming them into new containers and marking them for sale, so beware! IDK. The “fresh” bread has also molded pretty quickly on a few occasions. They DO NOT honor exchanges without a receipt (unlike TJoe’s I prefer them for produce). They do have a lot of variety with items unlike most other local places, the junk food section is tempting and plentiful (stay away) healthy choices are there but pretty expensive as is most the other items. NOTE: Pay attention to sales and ALWAYS check your receipt as they make mistakes A LOT and over charge almost EVERY TIME I have been there. I can’t get back often so it usually goes unclaimed and unrecovered and results in lost funds.
They do offer senior discounts on Wednesdays for those with seniors. I think 10%? Prices are typical but more on the higher side.
The place is clean staff is friendly and helpful and kind. Outside of the fruit and the inconsistency with prices (on sale and what gets rung up) I’m happy the area has another choice for shopping. Is old schoolers miss Pathmark but this is a decent alternative! Welcome to the Lower East Side...
