Nighttime Oasis for Introverts: A Haven of Atmospheric Beauty

NOT FULLY OPEN-- FALL 2023. I've ridden on this in the past and it's fantastic, but as of Sept 23, it's a mess. We joined near the top, were able to ride south less than a block before it was closed for construction, with no info of where to rejoin or detour routes. Saw info online that construction stopped at 14th, crossed back over the FDR, over three big blocks and down there, over a pedestrian bridge, rode a block and a half...and closed again. Back over a pedestrian bridge, no info on where it might resume. Once it's repaired, I'm sure it will be great, but if you're riding around now, be advised. Unfortunately, none of the cycle map websites seemed aware of this, and so it was a very frustrating visit.

Cycling along the greenway beneath the FDR is one of the best ways of seeing the east river side of the city. As you pass under the iconic bridges leading to Manhattan, you get clear views to Brooklyn and Queens, and the sights, sounds, and smells of the cycle will stick with you forever

Super pretty waterside running path that is very trafficked but not in a way that impedes your run/bike. Tons of space if you want a long run and the views are nice as well. As with most of New York, there are unhomed people living along the path but I never felt threatened or even bothered. There are dog parks and tons of good architecture as well. Very much...
