It really hurts my heart to come and share a negative review but my experience was not the best and a year later I’m still suffering the consequences. I hope this review helps someone else in the future.
In Aug 2020, I was referred to this salon by a good friend. I am also super cautious about new salons because my hair is very fine, so I thought a referral plus the ~ 15 min chat in the beginning for a consultation would suffice. However when I arrived, I was the last client so the stylist was very short and disinterested in any of my questions. It wasn’t the warmest welcome, but I understand after a long week (and in the midst of Covid) a person can get exhausted, so I wasn’t too worried about that.
But then…. the cut. Oh lord the cut. I knew something was wrong the minute I looked on the floor and there was SOO much hair. I was so confused. I understand that the method and thought it was a cute concept on my hair, but every stylist I have been to has said she “went to town” with cutting on my right side of my hair but weirdly not my left. I loved the cut concept but the bottom line is she cut way too much given how my hair naturally falls. Now it looks like there is a huge chunk of hair “missing” from the sides of my hair (around my ears) , which makes any shape I have tried to get after this cut impossible. It looks like the volume and weight of my hair is pulled out and for someone with fine hair it makes my hair look super thin. I’m not sure if it was because she was tired but the cut just looked a bit…careless (respectfully). It’s been so difficult even to just wear it out normally.
Overall, I’m very disheartened and disappointed by the cut I received. It also took me a year to write as I thought I could possibly “save it”, but it’s been a year and no hope. I just have to wait until it grows back.
So while I reallyyyy wanted to support the business, I didn’t have a pleasant experience here. Hopefully this save someone else with similar fine texture as mine so you don’t make the same mistake - or better yet just book at an...
Read moreCandace is a lovely human first and foremost. I've had a rough few weeks and cancelled on her with no notice, and she was so incredibly kind about it. For her personality and professionalism alone, she's worth 5 stars. But for hair - I have fine-ish hair that's mostly wavy with some curly and some straight parts, and I've been feeling super bummed about it lately, never having good days it seems. I came.in with pictures of styles I liked that would be a big change for me (chop to shoulder) and she was 100% honest about what would work for my hair type and face shape. She took her time with a dry cut first, then wash, condition, products, and diffuser dry. She touched it up with additional snips here and there after it dried again. She did everything she could to give me the look I wanted, considering limitations with the hair I happen to have. I was in the salon a little under 2 hours, which seems about right for my first curly cut. It was about $100 without tip and I think she's worth it. I left feeling much better about myself and...
Read moreOn my first visit, Candace healed years of harrowing salon trauma. She makes it looks so easy. I’m fresh off my second visit and will never go anywhere else if I can help it. She cuts and styles my extremely tight, kinky hair - 4c, for folks who hair type - better than anyone ever has, and I wish I knew how to style it the way she does. She also hired an assistant which initially gave me pause due to my aforementioned salon trauma - my hair does not like meeting new people! When the assistant started styling my hair, Candace intervened a few times to correct their technique. Candace was incredibly gentle, thorough, and patient during this teaching moment, which eased my worries about having someone new style my hair. My trust in Candace transferred to the assistant and I left incredibly happy with my hair and the...
