Iāve been getting acrylic tips since around 2008, back before they were more mainstream and it was difficult to find places in manhattan that did them. So in the past 16 years Iāve been to many nail techs.
Recently Iāve been staying with a friend in the west village, and after I snapped a nail I decided to look on Yelp for a place to get a fill. I put myself on the waitlist through their online booking form, and was thrilled when they texted to let me know they had an opening.
This place is very cute, they offered me a drink when I arrived. Iām not a review person normally, but Iām writing this because I was deeply impressed by how meticulous and detailed the tech was. Iām not fronting when I say Iāve never had someone concentrate so hard and be so gentle and caring over what they were doing. The tech would stop throughout the process to make sure I liked everything, and when replacing the nail on my left hand they MEASURED the same nail on my right hand to make sure they were absolutely correct, which was a first! Itās more expensive than my place in queens but it definitely was a āyou pay for qualityā thing and I wasnāt pressed.
Iād really love to go back and do nail art, and the next day when I hung out with my two best friends they both separately grabbed my hands and told me it was the best set theyāve seen on me. If you really care about your nails or are particular about shape and design this is your spot.
Also toward the end of my appointment this older women with a cane came in for an appointment. I was really impressed how caring they were, and she had some system she had bought back in the day and it was clear they accommodate her for that. Iām a caretaker for my elderly mother and it can be difficult to find places that treat older folks as people instead of an inconvenience. I just found it really touching, & It just speaks to the ethos there I think.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was so impressed by my experience at Hue Nail Club. I haven't been to a salon with a kinder, more professional, or more diverse staff since I moved to NYC. When I walked in I was met by my tech (Jenny) and handed a complimentary mimosa - exactly what I needed to decompress after a long day at work. I got a dip powder manicure with a floral design. Jenny was so attentive and made sure I was happy at EVERY stage. Early into the appointment, she cured two different base colors and showed me both to make sure it was to my liking. Prior to that, I had never been asked by a nail tech to choose/approve the BASE color of my nails. I felt so valued because it was extremely important to Jenny to involve me & take my feelings into account every step of the way. She has such an eye for detail and did an incredible job shaping my nails, making sure the lengths were consistent across both hands, etc. I really appreciated the cleanliness of the space, the funky, colorful aesthetic, and the throwback R&B playlist! The flowers required a lot of precision/time and I apologized profusely to Jenny for choosing such a complicated design. She assured me that it wasn't a big deal at all and that she loves what she does. I am so happy with the final product and I can tell this set will last a while. At Hue you are not only paying for a great set of nails, but a great EXPERIENCE. I didn't realize how important that second part was until I made an appointment here. I'm already looking at inspo for my next set & can't wait...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI think it depends who you get for services. When I came here the first time last year my reservation said someone named Ayanna did my regular manicure which lasted nearly 4wks and was absolutely insane. Ayanna was such a delight and brightened up a dreary day, and as I came last in the day she really took her time and made me feel pampered! She is such a star and you should absolutely tip her fabulously for the pleasure and craft!
I liked it so much I booked her again a couple months later but then someone else did my nails instead. Ayanna was held up with a glam set which I totally understand and I didnāt mind at all. However the person who did my nails that day seemed new and I say that as someone who canāt do my nails for crap, which is why I tried out going to a salon š the manicure was messy and thick, with thick layers that didnāt set well and chipped off within 10 days. So I havenāt been back because I thought I would get a great manicure regardless of who did the service.
I also noticed everyone else in the shop got a warm beverage except me the second time. I guess I get a regular manicure is not expensive and wouldnāt be as big of a tip as fancier designs but it made me feel less worthy as a guest, which I was already self conscious of since Iād only gotten my nails done once before and am not familiar with going to salons. Iāve stayed local in...
