I have been going to this Blink location for the past couple of months and today I have to leave a review because the service was exceptionally unprofessional. This is not my home gym-mine is at 42nd st. Bryant Park. The staff there is exceptional. I go in the mornings-I am consistently greeted with a good Morning by RJ and even Ms. Lynn who keeps the facility SPOTLESS. I go to this 23rd street location because it is open until 7 on Sundays. Since coming here, it is a hit or miss at to whether I get an actual greeting-fine. The staff in front is usually preoccupied with speaking to a coworker about a matter much too important to actually give a client full eye contact and a proper greeting. Nevertheless I am there to work out so I have not complained about that. But today-the gym closed an hour early due to a Holiday party. Understood. Signs were around and an email was sent. I didn’t see the email or the signs, I am responsible for that-And I take it .
I do also believe another simple measure that could have been taken by the staff is to be courteous enough to remind the guests that entered (especially the closer it got to 6pm) “by the way, don’t forget we close at 6 pm today.” Of course no such verbal reminder was given-when I came in this evening after 4pm this staff member was too busy speaking to someone-it seemed she couldn’t check me in fast enough.
When I commented about the facility closing early-I asked the manager for 5 minutes-which is all I needed to meet my goal-I was told no.
The customer service here is consistently under par-and in this situation my frustration clearly not important.
I requested 5 minutes not 20-not 15 and I was promptly shut down.
I am highly upset with not just their usual service but the unwillingness or inability to work a compromise with a human being in a relatable and...
Read moreOn Friday, June 8, I visited this Blink Fitness in the morning before work. It was my first time attending a Blink and I was excited for my one day trial. I secured my belongings in my locked locker, I believe it was number 20, then I grabbed my phone, headphones and water bottle to work out. After an hour I headed back to my locker thinking all was fine, changed my clothing in front of my locker and left. Hours later I receive bank alerts regarding unauthorized purchases of $4000. I typically never use my wallet throughout the day so checked my bag for it and it was gone. Unsure of whether it was lost on my way to work or at the gym, I called my bank that day and Blink the next. Blink let me know I needed a police report in order to review the video tapes so I travelled to my precinct to file it. Sunday night Blink's manager emailed me to let me know that my items were found and to pick them up on Monday. I did exactly that and he let me know that he found my school id and two credit cards wrapped in a small strip of paper in the front desk drawer. The paper did not mention the item description nor location found as it was blank and loosely held my cards. He said he heard they were found in the womens locker room but that was about it. He also said he'd look at the video tapes to find any suspicious activity and if so, would let me know in the next two days. I reached out in that time period and he emailed me saying he'd check however I still have not heard back.
With such a serious case of $4000 grand larceny, I am disappointed that I have not heard back. Most importantly I am disappointed that Blink employees left valuable items in an open drawer at the front desk over night. I hold Blink accountable for mishandling this situation. With this and a gym with someone who stole my wallet, I will never encourage anyone to...
Read moreThis is one of the cleanest gyms I have been to, even given the price point they are at. I wish more gyms strived to be this clean and organized. But I do believe the later has to do with clientele and equipment positioning. You see the staff cleaning while you are there so you know the effort is being made to keep it clean at all times. The equipment is also in really great shape. They recently replaced the mats for the functional area as they were looking a little more than worn out. There are plenty of weights, and they have .5 hand weights (ie the weights between 10 and 15, 15 and 20, is 12.5 and 17.5 respectively). I wish they had more than 1 set of the smaller weights (10 to 25), but it is what it is. The front desk staff are really friendly. The only downsides I see is the lockers are on the small side and they have a bias as to the type of lock you can use. The place where you attach your locker is nested in this smallish housing around it which makes it difficult or in some cases impossible to attach your lock. To the point where some have taken to bending the latch slightly to make it easier to attach their lock. The only other thing that would be nice is paper towels in the locker rooms. They have paper towels for wiping down the equipment just it would be nice if they also had paper towels in the locker rooms. I'm all for sustainability but sometimes you need a tissue and preferably not toilet paper. All around great gym. I definitely remember...
