Just another solid bagel option in Chelsea that, mostly, gets the job done.
The size of the bagels is standard as compared to the jumbo-sized ones you’ll get at Brooklyn Bagel just a few blocks south. The house coffee tastes like classic (and decent to above average) deli fare.
I got a toasted (I know, I know) everything bagel. Half with tuna salad and the other half with lox spread. This is a new gimmick I haven’t heard of at other bagel shops. It’s not one that I imagine is impossible, I’ve just never seen it advertised before.
The tuna salad was great, definitely a wet salad, with lots of classic deli tuna flavor. The lox spread was surprisingly flavorful and fluffy, with a mouth feel somewhere in between classic cream cheese and whipped. There was a decent amount of Nova to be found. The color of the spread I assume to be dyed to be pinker and punchier than other shops, but I could be wrong.
The bagel, itself, was good, and offers a chew and weight reminiscent of classic NYC bagels, again, unlike the denser, doughier, and bread-like oomph from Brooklyn Bagel Co (for better or worse).
The vibes of the shop feel as if Liberty Bagels on 35th did a collab with the likes of Blank Street Coffee. Not my favorite, but it’s definitely open and spacious, well-lit and clean. An easy spot to sit and work.
All in all, it’s a really good bagel shop. To have this as an option in the neighborhood will definitely make my in-office days better. And the menu, while a bit overdone in my opinion, offers countless customizable options alongside pastries, smoothies, sandwiches, and more that I will likely be exhausting in the weeks ahead.
My only objections are 1) the price of a half-and-half bagel doesn’t seem justified and 2) there’s nothing in particular, aside from the size of the space, that sets it apart. It doesn’t have the warmth of a classic mom and pop shop nor is it weighed down by the coldness of businesses designed for those chronically online.
The excellent, energetic, and laid-back service would be bring me back. Everything else…I can only offer the shrug of a New Yorker, “I could take it...

long: I was looking for a different coffee spot since the one I was going to regularly has been going downhill in terms of quality. I noticed this place while walking home. I went in, and the place has a warm inviting vibe thanks to the heavy use of wood and open space with plenty of seating. I ordered the coffee au lait with a french toast bagel with scrambled eggs, asiago cheese, and avocado. Interestingly enough, the bagel is not as sweet and soft as I expected. It tastes and has the same texture as an egg roll. The food reminded me of being at a hotel or a conference with the continental breakfast. I felt very comfortable while having my lunch. I'm not supposed to be eating bagels, but I've been here every day this week now, which is not good for the blood sugar and belly fat. Yesterday, I had a mini cinnamon roll with butter, but as can be seen in the pictures, the paper wrapping the bagel was an oily mess. I won't be ordering that again. Today, I had the french toast bagel again but with a california omelet this time. Next time I order this, I'll ask to substitute the cheese for asiago for that extra flavor. Highly recommended for locals and...

Now, NYCB&CH has a quintessentially classy NYC vibe, Christmassy feel in December and stately decor of a sports bar; with staff constantly on tidying/stocking forays. A lot to be said about so many aspects. Upscale; selection of sandwiches, cereals; quiches, pies (pic); muffins (pic - dozen+ flavors); scones; smoothies; teas (pic - dozen+ flavors), fresh squeezed orange juice; cold coffee on tap (pic); branded, solid wood tables (pic); well stocked self-serve station (pic), ~65 seat capacity (two bar height table for 8 each, rest dining height for 2 or 3 persons), plus music at just right volume .... all this, best said with pictures. And of course, there's a selection of more than 30 bagel varieties with nearly three dozen spreads to pair with (pic). We were very ably served by Kaushalya (Name etymology - Indian scriptures: Mother of Lord Vishnu, in his incarnation as Rama), who offered superb suggestions. Overall, entire Staff is very efficient & cheery in handling eat-in, takeout, & food service orders. 6:00 am opening works well for early risers and those wanting to avoid the rush; which builds up pretty quickly. Definitely worth a visit;...
