read all.... This is by far the most unprofessional business Iâve ever encountered. We ended up walking out with two dresses, but we deeply regret our decision. We spent almost $2,000 on dresses that we wonât even be able to wear for our event next week.
About three months ago, my mom found a dress priced just over $1,000. I later found the same dress online for a lower price, and the store owner agreed to refund us the difference. When I returned to collect the difference, he told me he would give it to me next time.
When we returned, my mom tried on her dress and loved it, but it needed some adjustments to fit her height and body type. The owner then suggested I try on a new dress, which I did. He told me it was $950, but when I looked at the tag, it was only $650. I confronted him about the price discrepancy, and he agreed to sell it to me for that price.
He also told me the dress was made in Lebanon, although Portia and Scarlett dresses are made in Australia. I liked the dress but wanted to keep my options open since it was strapless. The owner repeatedly pressured me, asking why I didnât like it, insisting that it was beautiful. I told him I was hesitant because I wanted more coverage on top. He then claimed his âprofessional tailorâ could add straps and hem the dress. Although I was still unsure, we moved on to my mom, who was being fitted for alterations.
On our way out, the owner was extremely pushy about me paying in full and ordering the dress that day. I explained that I wanted to keep my options open and would call if I didnât find anything else. He insisted that wasnât an option and told me I was difficult to work with and indecisive. Eventually, I agreed to buy the dress, even though I wasnât entirely comfortable.
Weeks went by, and when we followed up on the dress, the owner said it was still in Lebanon, although we later learned it was shipped from Germany. When I tried on the dress, I wasnât happy with how it looked on me. The owner began criticizing me, calling me difficult and saying I wouldnât like anything. He also told me that if I took the dress, he wouldnât tailor it for me. His behavior was incredibly rude.
My mom tried on her dress, which we were supposed to take home that day, but it was falling apart. I pointed out the issues with the dress, and he responded dismissively with a rude âok, ok, ok.â Eventually, I took my dress, and my mom had to leave hers behind for further repairs. I took my dress to a local tailor, who informed me that it couldnât be altered to add straps. This contradicted what the store owner had told me, suggesting he only wanted to make a quick sale.
The bottom line is: Do not waste your...
Read moreI visited this shop with my niece because I wanted to purchase her prom dress. Although the saleswomen were nice, we were not allowed to take photographs of the dresses according to the owner's policy. I would not buy a dress without the approval of my sister and without sending pictures she couldn't approve the dress. I told my niece to get dressed and we left. There were several black customers shopping including a woman with 2 children who were disabled. They sat on the floor not one foot from a ceiling leak. I complained as the mom did not and they were moved. As we left the male owner asked my niece where the dress was, as though she were hiding it under her coat! Much to my dismay my niece returned with her mom to buy the dress. I returned to show the owner a picture of my niece in the dress and to tell him that I thought he was a racist. I want him to know that he should kiss the feet of blacks who shop in his store. It is largely because of our sacrifices that he as a foreigner can open a shop on Queens Boulevard. He is not fit to shine the shoes of men like Ralph Bunche and Muhammad Ali. This shop owner acted like a dastardly pig! I would not give him a penny of my money and blacks should beware in my...
Read moreIf I could give this place 0 stars I would. My mother, aunt and I were on the hunt for a mother of the bride dress for my mom with my wedding in 5 months!
I had called the store prior to showing up because I wanted to be respectful if their schedule was busy / they were appointment only. The owner then told us he could accommodate us and to come on over.
Once we showed up he was very aggressive asking my mom what her style was and asking for pictures of inspiration. She then showed a dress she had tried on and loved but still wanted to explore her options and he said âso why didnât you just pick that one.â
He then proceeded to let us look around and my mom ended up finding a few dresses that she was interested in. As we walked to the fitting room he became very condescending and said she was only allowed to to try on three and then we would have to leave because he didnât want us to waste his time because he believed âshe wasnât ready to buy.â He continued to make nasty comments so ultimately we walked out without even trying anything on and he was like âgood go.â
Super unfortunate for him because my mom was most CERTAINLY ready to purchase a dress with a price range of about 2k but his horrible demeanor...
