I was on the first day trial but it was HORRIBLE experience with HORRIBLE customer service. Watch out for DISCRIMINATION!
I got interested in the gym because of the pool and it's close to my office. Roberto the assistant manager was nice and helped me booked a lap swim slot. Then I got there for the swim but my appointment was not in their system. I showed the email with communication between Roberto and me as well as the confirmation for the swim slot. The receptionist Jackie was also nice and let me in for the swim slot. She told me to tell the safeguard that she let me into the pool. So I told the safeguard girl that and she just asked for my appointment time and direct me to lane 1 (I expected she would've asked more but I guess maybe there had been communication while I was in the shower). 5min later a guy came in swim brief and kept staring angrily at me while I was in the pool and then talked to the safeguard girl. I saw they both were in confusion so I told them the full story again thinking it would help them resolve the confusion. The girl then asked me to move to lane 4. I was okay with that because I don't see any difference between lanes (I'm not sure why the guy insisted in getting lane 1). Personally, I feel if the girl asked for my name and direct me to the right lane at the beginning, the issue would not happen. The guy thanked the girl but still looked at me angrily (the girl didnāt show any appreciation either. It seems they think Iām the problem, not helping the problem). I was bothered by that but thought he might still misunderstand something so I walked over to him and politely asked if I could talk to him a bit. He replied coldly "There is nothing to talk". I just kept going "Why am I the one giving up the lane for you but you only thanked the girl but not me?". He replied "IT'S MINE". I saw he didn't want to communicate so I turned over to the girl and asked for her opinion (she heard the convo because she was right next), but instead of trying to deescalate, she carelessly replied "ā¦..It's up to him who he wanna thank......and HE'S PAYING THE MONTHLY FEE SO THAT LANE IS HIS......" I confirmed the problem was not about misunderstanding but the problem was neither of them wanted to talk and also their discrimination of me not yet paying the fee (cz I was on my trial).
I think misunderstanding between members could happen in a shared environment but it is very important how staff can resolve the conflict instead of escalating it (or disrespecting/discriminating one over another). With such attitude, issues could keep happening so I would never want to go back. I hope the manager would address it properly so others wonāt have to experience such...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCompletebody midtown location is the best of all their clubs in Manhattan. As many people know adequate space is a commodity in NYC. This midtown location has a nice spacious layout that separates the cardio section from the weight training . Although a little outdated, the decor is on the upscale parallel. Youāll find a decent size studio and cardio machines on one side of the gym floor along with a heated indoor pool with plenty of sunlight an a outdoor patio attached just outside the pool deck.
The other half of the gym you will find plenty of free weights, fixed and cables machines , Pilates area with Reformer , Cadillac , Ladder Barrel, Stability Chair and more. (Must have a Pilates cert. instructor to use)
The gym is well maintained. Clean gym floor, sanitizing stations, well kept locker room and showers (although you must bring your own towels). Day lockers are available and permanent lockers are available for a monthly fee. You must bring your own lock for day lockers.
Great for independent trainers looking for a reasonably priced and good environment to train private clients. All the normal formalities for trainers are required .
Atmosphere is pretty low key. As a personal trainer Iāve spent multiple hours in the gym at different times of the day and for the most part it never seem to be crowded or too many people in one particular area. The member base is predominantly middle age to retirees. Not your muscle t shirt kind of gym but more of fitness as a daily activity to keep the body functional.
Friendly staff. Physical therapy and massages available on site. No floor trainer on duty but plenty of working trainers to guide you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had continual follow up from Ken who gave me a free trial personal training session. The intake assessment included measurements on their Inbody scanner, a warm up, a couple of exercises to measure difficulty levels, and finally a 30-min circuit with weights. I enjoyed the session! Overall the interior decor is outdated but everything is well maintained. Their cardio area was plentiful but very warm since itās located right next to their 4-lane heated pool (with a life guard). Thereās a rooftop for outdoor cycling classes. In their weight room, thereās everything you would ever need. This gym was not crowded at all with maybe 5 ppl in each room. So absolutely no wait times or crowding! All of their weight machines were working and clean. Thereās a sauna and showers with towels free. Most of their group classes begins at 10am and a few in the evenings. So as a morning person, there arenāt very many to choose from. While ultimately I did not end up going through with a membership, you can save money if you pay for the annual membership upfront. TLDR; clean, not crowded, well-maintained machines, rooftop, and swimming pool. Personally, membership is too pricey but cheaper than...
