Dr. Michael J. Wei, DDS — Local services in New York

I had a PHENOMENAL experience with Dr. Wei. It's sometimes hard to choose a dentist, particularly in NYC where there are so many to choose from. I can assure you that you should choose Dr. Wei because he definitely has the skill, experience and tools necessary to achieve what you're looking for. But the top two, foolproof reasons why I can guarantee that Dr. Wei is the best choice are that he is honest and he genuinely cares and will work tirelessly to achieve what YOU want. Many doctors may have the expertise necessary to do a fairly decent job, but Dr. Wei will be honest enough to let you know whether what you desire is feasible and if he can accomplish it, and if he can, you can take my word for it that this man will not rest until he gets you the result that will make YOU happy.

I first visited Dr. Wei's office when I started thinking about getting veneers. At this point, I was in braces and was very unsure about taking the big step of getting veneers, especially because I am a rather conservative person. I found Dr. Wei through several Google searches which identified him as the "best in Manhattan."

From the very first consultation, I was immediately at ease with Dr. Wei for the following reasons: (1) he was very welcoming, pleasant and approachable, (2) he was very perceptive and could sense that I was nervous about the process and took the time to put my mind at ease, (3) he very clearly and carefully explained every detail of what the process would entail and made sure I understood each step, and (4) he was extremely patient. And as a bonus, his office is very clean and organized, his colleagues are very warm and professional, and most importantly, appointments are typically on time and on schedule.

At that point I knew that I would be comfortable with him as my dentist. I had recently gotten dental implants and was looking for a dentist who could secure crowns to my implants--Dr. Wei was my first choice and he did an excellent job. He really aims to please his patients and worked with me to make sure I liked and was comfortable with my crowns.

As for the veneers, I was still on the fence and heavily in doubt. I went to about four or five consultations with Dr. Wei (which we joke about now) because I am very particular and I didn't want to make a decision that I would regret (especially since veneers aren't cheap!). I really can't explain how PATIENT Dr. Wei was on every single occasion--I always had new questions based on the dozens of misleading articles I would constantly read online, and Dr. Wei would welcome me into his office every time and patiently respond to each and every concern and query.

I must also highlight that this man is HONEST. This is also a very important quality particularly in cosmetic/restorative dentistry where the procedures are not covered by insurance and thus money will be leaving your own pocket. He carefully walked me through other options that I could consider, even if he would not financially benefit from those options. I came to trust him so much that I would go to consultations with other dentists and go right back to his office to see what he thought about what the other dentists advised lol.

Eventually, I decided that I wanted to go ahead and get veneers and of course I went with Dr. Wei--by this time he knew all my particularities and he was the only one I would trust with such a big decision. I had always disliked my smile and wanted to finally see a smile that I liked. Once I made the decision, the process was a breeze. He made everything so easy and made sure that I fully understood what was happening at every step of the way.

Two months later, and I loooovvvee my smile. I also get compliments all the time. And more importantly, I'm confident about my dental health and have experienced no discomfort.

If you're looking for a great dental experience or if you've had an unpleasant experience with dentists who come off as condescending and dismissive, then make sure to visit Dr. Wei's office! You won't regret it and your smile...

updated: I had to sign on to my new school google account to update my review fyi lol. I seen Doctor Wei today for a issue I had. When I called him about it he was so kind and compassionate to try to fit me in same day, as was his wonderful front desk staff Analise (sorry if i spelled it wrong) , however Dr Wei was all booked for the day with no cancellations BUT they fit me in bright and early the next morning and even called to tell me they have an earlier open if I want to go. Dr Wei fixed my issue and helped me feel more comfortable if the situation should arise again what we can do to fix it. He did not take a money hungry approach as some dentists do , he advised the best solution for me and did everything he could to service me. He also squeezed me in for a cleaning which was very accomodating since I was already there and did not have to take another day off of work. Thank you Dr Wei I had anxiety all night over the issue even crying and you made me feel so much better once I got there. Thank your wonderful staff for me as well. Always a pleasure with you guys. First let me start by saying i am a very honest reviewer and live my life by reviews for everything i do so this is my honest opinion.Dr Wei and his staff are so amazing!! I went to several dentists to make my decision about who is going to do my Veneer procedure, as I was SO embarrassed of my smile for years! For me this was a big decision since it can get very costly depending on your needs. After seeing around 8 different dentists i decided to go with Dr. Wei I did as much research as i could on him and found with his credentials and the way he presented himself at my consolation won me over. Dr. Wei has a trusting caring way about him that made me so at ease from my first consultation up to the last day of my veneer procedure he offers different financial options that can help you pay for treatment and he ALWAYS works with your schedule. Dr. Wei is so gentle and makes you feel so calm you wish you would have found him years ago as that is how I feel. Also Amanda his assistant is so wonderful with your needs. If i had any needs or concerns they would fit me in the same day with no problem just to make me feel happy and satisfied. My new veneers look so beautiful and natural it will really amaze you to see the before and after. I am no longer embarrassed to smile as i was or covering my mouth when I talk I am so much more confident and I can really cry when i think of what Dr. Wei corrected that i was most self conscious about. I will continue to see Dr. Wei even if my dental insurance wont cover anything ! That is how amazing he is. If you are having any hesitations with who you should go see please go at least for a consultation with him, you will not be disappointed and i know you will LOVE him! And he did veneers , cavities, cleaning and much much more with the time frame i gave him and finished before my BIRTHDAY as i asked even with his busy schedule!!! He honestly made me so happy. UPDATE TO MY FIRST REVIEW: Dr. Wei has once again exceeded my expectations! I went into his office again last month with a concern about previous bonding work that I had done by another dentist a year ago. The previous work had left a rather thick bonding on just one side of my front right tooth, which I thought made the tooth appear lopsided (a belief that was proven right in a few close-up photos I had done prior to visiting his office).

Dr. Wei intently listened to all of my concerns and understood the anxiety that this flaw had been causing for close to a year. He had me point to the exact areas of the bonding that I considered to be problematic, making sure that he perfectly understood what I wanted corrected before proceeding with the treatment. He worked on the tooth for a few minutes and then handed me a mirror to inspect the corrections. To say that I was blown away is an understatement! He had not only fixed all of my concerns with the bonding, but had done so in a timely and stress-free manner. I’m forever grateful that he took on the challenge (I can be a rather picky patient), and have been incredibly happy with my smile since his corrections.

Dr. Wei is not only a very skilled cosmetic dentist, but is also a humble professional who strives to go above-and-beyond for his patients. After completing my treatment, we talked in his office for close to twenty minutes about the work that he conducts on a day-to-day basis, as well as his plans for the future. One such goal he hopes to accomplish is to provide a free dental make-over to a person in need.

He is the best dentist I have gone to and his status as one of the best cosmetic dentists in the country is well-earned. His calm demeanor made my stressful situation much less worrisome and made for a five-star experience. His staff is also very professional and kind. I’m extremely grateful to have found him and could not recommend his work enough!

Dr. Wei was very helpful and thorough in my general cleaning. I came in with a concern about a small chip on one of my bottom teeth. Before smoothing out the chip (free of charge, no less!), he confirmed which tooth he would be working on and explained exactly how he was going to even it out. When he had completed the work, he had me check to make sure the tooth was exactly how I wanted it before proceeding. The general cleaning was also the best I've ever had! Overall, the office had a great atmosphere and Dr. Wei patiently listened to all of my concerns. Will definitely be recommending...
