Duane Reade — Local services in New York

If I could give a quarter of a star I would ....maybe! After googling store hours made my way over in a taxi...arrived 15 minutes before closing time (7:45 on a Sunday night) only to find the door locked. All the lights were on inside and I did see an employee milling around completely ignoring my attempts to get his attention. I called the store multiple times...finally a woman answered and I told her I desperately needed to get one thing (my child was ill) and she proceeded to tell me that they closed the store 15 minutes early to “clean up”. I explained I needed to get one item, I knew exactly what it was and I would be in and out in one minute. She stated they had closed the registers...I offered to pay cash with no intention of receiving any change and she told me no and “she could not help me”. It was now 7:50-7:55 and there was an employee restocking water, trying to get his attention by knocking on the doors I was completely ignored. Duane Reade is a joke...their employees need to be trained in customer service and if they are going to lock the doors at 7:45 don’t advertise that your store will be...

If I could rate this location 0 stars I would. Every single time I come to the register.. there is a female worker about 5’3 and a “light” brown complexion with big eyes that looks at whatever worker is ringing me up at the moment and laughs as if something is always funny JUST as I arrive. When I’m waiting in line.. I don’t see her do it to anyone else so it must be personal insecurities, however, I am always very respectful and the next time she does it... her manager and I will have a very different conversation. In fact, I am very offended because I don’t laugh at her when I come in considering there are multiple reasons why I could do so. The disrespect towards a paying customer is...

I love this location. The pharmacy staff are extremely helpful and compassionate. Phones are answered quickly and efficiently. You won’t be placed on hold for long periods or run in an endless automated loop while waiting to speak to someone. I’ve never waited more than a minute or two to pick up a script. Like any pharmacy, they sometimes run out but the staff here will go out of their way to get it for you. The pharmacists even call periodically to see how you’re feeling! Who does that anymore?! I’m deducting a star for the actual store downstairs because the checkout line is not for the weak. There’s routinely only 1 cashier even with a line of 10+ people. Store is...
