I’m going to be honest- at first I really liked e.terra, but after months of trying to set up a situation that works for me, they have continued to let me down. This experience is from earlier this year, around February/March. I wanted to rent cold storage only, without becoming a member and at first they said that was possible.
I called Stephanie almost everyday for a couple months to set up something so simple, only for her to ignore my calls and finally get back to me saying that I had to commit to a membership in order to do that.
That’s ridiculous and honestly it’s not that affordable. Fees of about $1500 a month just to rent a stove and refrigerator space is robbery. Not to mention you have to do at least 20 hours of kitchen space rentals as a member. At that rate, with a little extra planning it would be possible to open your own kitchen/get your own space (obviously what I opted for). I do not think e.terra uplifts women or small businesses very much. My experience with them was just, disappointing and not direct or prompt.
I rented a kitchen station for a photoshoot once and it was ok. Not worth the price. Barely a selection of plates, table cloths. Not even a wooden table really to stage items. It was like I paid $150 to literally turn on a stove and put some dishes down. I left feeling not impressed.
They don’t take you seriously unless you commit to a membership. They should be transparent about that. They don’t even try to upsell any medium term commitment or packages. They just tell you about it and then ghost you unless you commit. They are truly not committed to helping small businesses during every stage. I would pay $1500 a month but for way more amenities. Like cold storage included in the membership price, or even kitchen time included.
I am an Indian chef. I do high heat wok cooking, pressure cooking, there are SO many spices and ingredients necessary- one shelf of cold storage for about $100 dollars a month makes no sense, no matter what volume of cooking I’m doing. I don’t know about all these other great reviews- I’m glad it’s working for them, but I have to be honest about my experience. I don’t know if it’s because as a South Asian chef I have very different cooking needs than a dessert company or an American chef, but regardless I do not feel welcome as an Asian non binary person. It bothers me to say this because I genuinely found everyone there so nice. They’re just not...
Read moreE Terra has been so supportive and instrumental in allowing our nonprofit to expand our operations while we searched for a full time space. With their beautiful kitchen, amazing equipment and the kindest staff, we've been able to cook and serve 600/meals a week to the homeless and those in need.
E terra staff have come to volunteer with us, they have a beautiful community service program and really care. They always were willing to work with us and make sure we had the cooking and storage space we needed, and were helpful and accomodating.
I love working in the kitchen, meeting other cool chefs and businesses and enjoying the space. It's got large, bright windows, friendly and open, and clean and organized. My life as a baker changed with the big mixers! Thank you e. Terra for all you provide to...
Read moreI’ve been a member at eterra for over a year - I’m a small buisness dessert company and I wasn’t sure if my desserts could pay the bills and it was definitely a big learning experience. The staff is so supportive of my buisness…it’s grown so much since I started and it’s because I don’t worry about taking an order that’s too big! Bella, gene and Stephanie are so accomendating! I’ve pivotated my buisness to focus more on cakes and larger catering orders since that’s the price tag I need. I would say eterra is a commitment if you’re going to become a member that can make or break your buisness so make sure you do all your homework and go in there knowing what your needs are! I’ve also gotten some buisness and opportunities because I was a eterra member and like anything - you get out of it what...
