I would not recommend this hair salon. I get my hair cut maybe 1x a year so Iām not the kind of person whoās very picky. I have very long hair so I wanted a U cut and some angles. When I was getting my hair washed, another customer ran out crying because they messed up her hair. I think she got her hair cut by Emma but since I assumed I was getting the other person, it would be fine. While Iām getting my hair washed, he starts yelling at Emma and then says to me in English about how she should have done a better job with the other customerās hair thinking Emma doesnāt understand English. Then they start yelling at each other. This was already unprofessional and made me uncomfortable. When itās my turn, the next appt comes in and the second the owner sees itās a white woman, he immediately tends to her and asks what she wants, pulls up pictures and spends 30 min going over her hair part. Meanwhile, my hair is soaking wet and he asks if Iām fine with Emma. Although I wanted him, I said yes because my hair was wet already and I figured my cut was simple. I already had shown him a pic of what I wanted but when Emma was cutting, I kept asking the guy to make sure he was telling Emma the right instructions but he didnāt pay attention. In fact, he said how lots of Indian women get U hair cuts and want layers for volume, but I didnāt appreciate the stereotype and him pushing the layers because I was Indian. I only requested wash and cut but she did a blowout but didnāt tell me it was more money and on the phone the guy had said heād throw in styling for free. When I saw the results, Emma had not cut my hair into U, didnāt do angling, and my hair pretty much looked like I got 4 inches taken off. I told the guy how I was unhappy that after telling them 10x what I wanted, I still didnāt get it and he kept insisting that sheād fix it by making it even shorter. I also told him that he didnāt even spend any time going over what I wanted, didnāt show me any sample hairstyles, and didnāt pay any attention. Emma didnāt take into account my hair part and asked 0 questions. Then he said that he didnāt think U haircuts looked good anyway, and that made me more annoyed because thatās what I asked for. When I went up to pay, they charged me extra for the blowout I didnāt ask for and then the couple starting arguing more with each other and he physically is pushing her with 2 other customers in the chair. He offered me a free cut next time but I will not be going back. If you come here, if you get your hair cut by the guy maybe youāll be fine but if youāre not white, he probably wonāt pay any attention to you. Now I realize that because the first customer who walked out was also a person of color so seems they only care about...

Absolutely ruined my daughterās beautiful thick curly African American hair. The hair needed a wash and a braid, which weāve gotten at this salon before from the owner, as we do every week from the neighborhood salons. The hair was not tangled in any manner, it was not āmattedā or any of the things the owner is now alleging to appear less unprofessional.
Instead of doing the hair himself, he told his assistant to handle it this time. It was clear that this person has never dealt with curly black hair. She washed it with barely any conditioner and then proceeded to brush it with the brush used for straight hair. By the time I looked up from my phone, my daughterās hair was one giant clump on top of her head and the assistant was ripping it out of her head in a panic with the straight-hair brush. She kept screaming something in my 5 year-oldās face even though I repeatedly asked her to calm down and stop scaring her.
By then the owner was finished with their other client and came over to examine the situation. He begged us to stay so he could attempt to undo the assistantās damage, but she would not stop screaming and scaring my 5yo, so I just told them we were leaving. I even offered to pay for the wash. The fact that they actually accepted the money after what they did to us is mind-blowing. But hey, high road. Iāve tipped the owner 100% before, so at least I did not leave a tip, which was big for me.
And now interestingly the story has completely changed. Apparently now my 5yo is a homeless druggie with āmattedā hair all over, and the hairdresser is this brave hero who volunteered 8 hours of their time to give this homeless youth a makeover. Ugh.
Skip this place. They are unprofessional and unethical. It is always empty and it is empty for a reason.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really wanted to love this salon since itās in the neighborhood. I went in today to get a cut - their site states cuts are $40-45. I have longer hair so I know Iām always on the more expensive end. Plus they advertise 20% for new customers.
I came in, got my hair washed, and got my hair cut. The owner, I believe, translated what I wanted to the stylist but didnāt show her the photo reference.
The cut felt so haphazard, there was no division of hair, just random chunks being cut. I have no idea how she was keeping track of the hair: I even had to ask if she remembered where my part was.
They asked if I wanted it blow dried straight or wavy; I asked for the latter. The stylist didnāt place any product in my hair as she went through random strandsā it looked so frizzy and terrible. At one point she grabbed 90% of my bang and ignored the rest. I thought sheād come back to fix it but never did. Just an example of the process.
She applied hairspray and finally we were done. I had to put hands through my hair to get a sense of what my hair looked like. No product added so it looked frizzy and uneven. The curls werenāt fully done so one side was flat.
When I went to check out, she asked to $68. I asked why it was so different from the $40-45 price advertised and I was told I got my hair washed and blow dried, two prices never mentioned at all. I told them this was unfair as all my cuts in New York came with both, or at the very least was told these were extra. They adjusted the price to $48 ā still more than Iād hoped to spend. Beware.
I really had high hopes for coming here but sadly Iāll go back to my regular salon.
Cut is fine, might need to straighten it to see how...
