Rafaels Barbershop Vintage is the by far the Best Barbershop in New York City. I moved to the East Village back in 2013 because growing up in New York City, the East Village maintains that residential, NYC neighborhood culture. Small businesses and the neighborhood residents still operate with that personal level of integrity. There are so many Barbershops in New York City, that you get overwhelmed by the choices. However, you'll always need your hair cut - Service, reliability and consistent results is a necessity. My first year in the neighborhood, I literally tried every barber within my vicinity with great reviews. The problem I had was that they were all very good and provided great quality. What made Rafael's Barbershop stand out is summed up to one word - diligent. Diligent in the quality of my hair cut. In the 5 years I've been coming as a walk-in customer (its tough for me to schedule appointments) I've sat with each of Rafaels barber, including himself. And the outcome is always on point - never one dissatisfied result. Diligent in the service. The culture is professional and personable. From my first visit back in 2014 until today, the level of service has been exactly the same - top notch. Diligent atmosphere. His new location provides that vintage barbershop feel. They provide complimentary alcohol, tv with great music videos to watch while you wait and my personal favorite - his airy open storefront window. You have to experience getting a haircut, where you feel the breeze come through the shop and you hear the tempo of the East Village in the background. It's awesome. Rafael has done an amazing job, taking the time to create an experience his regular customers can look forward to every couple of weeks when its time to get that haircut. Give him a try and I challenge you to respond to my review if any of it is inaccurate. I'm an NYC business owner and don't have much time for anything - I'm not generous with online reviews. But Thanks to Rafael , I have one less thing to worry about. I have my cut, my beer, an amazing environment and excellent service everytime!

If you're looking for a barbershop experience that combines skill, attentiveness, and a touch of humor, look no further than Rafael's Barbershop. Nestled in the heart of the city, this traditional establishment offers more than just a haircut—it offers an experience. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the inviting atmosphere of a classic barbershop. The interior exudes charm with its vintage decor and the comforting sound of clippers in the background. Rafael himself is a standout. He's not just a barber; he's a true craftsman. Rafael takes his time with each client, meticulously ensuring that every detail of your haircut is perfect. He prides himself in his work, and it shows in the results. Whether it's a simple trim or a complete restyle, Rafael approaches each cut with the precision of an artist. What sets Rafael apart, aside from his skill, is his wonderful sense of humor. He effortlessly engages clients in friendly banter, turning a routine haircut into an enjoyable conversation. It's this personal touch that makes every visit memorable. Overall, Rafael's Barbershop offers more than just haircuts; it's an experience that leaves you looking and feeling your best. If you appreciate a barber who truly cares about his craft, takes pride in his work, and can make you smile while in the chair, then Rafael's Barbershop is the place to be. Make an appointment and treat yourself to a masterful cut and an enjoyable time.

Rafael is a solid guy and gives a solid haircut for a decent price but I would not go here for beard work. Few months ago I asked for a shapeup of a bushy beard and he literally just cut the whole thing off. I felt him doing it and was like hm this feels like he's cutting it completely off. I let him go at it because I figured no self-respecting barber would cut off a beard and call it a shape up. But he did. I couldn't believe my eyes when I sat up. I had 1 cm of stubble all the same length top to bottom. Stunning. I had explicitly asked for a certain style in a photo. Not even close to what I showed him. He said it would grow in with shape. It obviously did not. Included is a before and after. The before was multiple weeks before. So it was a bit longer/bushy by doomsday. I understand I didn't have a lions mane to deal with, but I've done better on my own with scissors.
