Fabulous Fanny's — Local services in New York

There is literally no other place one should go to buy quality, rare, unique, contemporary and/or authentic vintage frames than Fanny’s. I went here on a fluke—been searching high and low, online and brick and mortar, for about 2 years for a pair of glasses I actually love for an affordable price. I’ve gone to the small New York boutiques, I’ve gone to the larger retailers like LensCrafters, and everything in between and have come up with nothing but a headache, heartbreak and $1000s of dollars wasted. I was starting to give up until I went to Fanny’s after reading the reviews. Ron and Stephanie are excellent, fun, patient and offer honest, professional opinions about styles—tailoring it to your face and your tastes. I got 3 pairs of glasses for less than the price of one at these other places and I never leave happy. Cranky fowl old man alert Just got told F U by the owner while getting flipped the birdie as he literally shoved me out the door and locked it. Why? Because my 6 year old twins where playing. We have been buying several pairs of glasses here annually for over 8 years, not anymore!! He traumatized my kids by yelling at them using fowl language, for no good reason. They where not even misbehaving. I asked him if he had kids of his own, to which he replied, "thank gd, I don't". And thank gd he doesn't! I've never left a negative review in my life. I always give people the benefit of the doubt. As an owner of a chain of retail stores, I'm not sure how he is still in business with an attitude like that. I love Fabulous Fanny's and have been a customer for many years. That being said, their customer service over the last year or so is not as good as it has been in the past. The staff has changed and now it feels less like people who are trained and interested in the merchandise and more like college students who aren't that interested. Which, look--it is OK to have a job that is just a job and I don't expect to be treated like royalty just because I am shopping. But Fabulous Fanny's used to have IMHO the best customer service in NYC. I will continue to shop here because their frames are fabulous and well-priced. But I miss...
