I had high hopes coming here, but unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming.
The salon is clean, which I appreciate, but the environment wasn’t very inviting. The staff seemed rushed and disengaged. I didn’t feel particularly welcomed, and at one point I had to remind the tech to finish my service even though I had clearly been there longer than the person she started helping mid-session.
The overall vibe felt off, not quite what I expected for a Park Slope location. Between the outdated interior and the energy of the space, I didn’t feel as relaxed or comfortable as I typically would during a self-care service.
The polish selection was limited, especially when it comes to deeper or mauve-toned pinks that complement a range of darker skin tones. I asked for a simple French tip, but the application was uneven, and when one nail had to be redone, it came out even worse the second time.
It’s also overpriced for what you get. I’ve had far better service and results at my regular salon. I only came here because it was close to where I was coming from, but I wouldn’t return.
The staff were also very pushy. I noticed they asked every customer who only wanted a pedicure multiple times if they also wanted a manicure, in a way that felt more aggressive than professional. When I went to pay, the tech hovered over me while I was signing the receipt. I still tipped (a low amount), but only because I felt pressured, and I regretted it, especially when she didn’t even say thank you afterward, as if the tip was owed despite the sloppy work.
Overall, this place felt impersonal, overpriced, and unprofessional. I...
Read moreI love this place!! The technicians that I have interacted with here have always been so pleasant & most importantly do a great job & are SO gentle. They have awesome designs and make art out of nails like I haven't seen before. I had lost a thumb nail in an accident and was having a hard time growing it in normal, one appt w 5 color and it has grown in completely & in the right shape. Someone had told me to try this nail salon & I'm so happy I did cause it's the only one I go to now.
Updated Shirley + staff are the best, they take great care of their regulars. I'm always being shown a new design style or suggestions w colors. Same day appts or walk ins. This has been my nail spot for the last couple years now & they do a wonderful job & most importantly their prices are fair & consistent! Too many times I go into the same salon for the same thing yet it's a different price everytime. Not here!...
Read moreDon’t go here. You would think hey it’s a nail salon they’re all pretty equal and standard - nope. The man who did my manicure did a subpar job - his ring hit my finger after polish and then he dabbed his finger over it to fix it and it just looks smudgy. I had to ask for a 3rd coat since it wasn’t opaque with 2 which was very clear. Then, the lady who did my pedicure literally dug into my nails when filing - it stung when I put it in water and I was in pain the entire time. She asked me if I wanted callus removal and I asked if it was included and she said no I’d had to pay $10 more which everyone knows basic scraping is included in any pedicure/salon I’ve been to. Pedicures are supposed to potentially induce labor with oxytocin release — this was probably the opposite experience for me as I was in pain the entire time. I won’t be coming back here and recommend you look...
