Flowers on Essex — Local services in New York

I do my homework. While looking for a florist for my son's rehearsal dinner in Brooklyn at the River Cafe on May 3rd, I searched the websites of at least 70 florists in the Brooklyn/Lower Manhattan area (as I live in Atlanta). Flowers on Essex by far had the most beautiful flowers and TONS of pictures. Then, when I called and spoke with Bill, the owner, I knew I had found the right place.

The best part of the experience was that Bill listened to exactly what I wanted. And he delivered! The arrangements were drop dead gorgeous. I was thrilled when I saw them. Wish I had taken pictures but it was all a whirlwind.

The second best part of the experience was that Bill's price was $500 less than the overprice florist that the River Cafe recommended.

I was visiting New York for work (from the UK) last month and found 'Flowers on Essex' from a quick Google search and saw great reviews so thought I'd give them a go. I bought a beautiful bouquet of flowers as a thank you for one of my organisation's volunteers. Bill and his team are so helpful and friendly. I was made to feel very welcome and had a lovely chat with Bill and team. It's worth walking down 139-West 28th Street just to see all the beautiful flower shops. There used to be 45 wholesalers in NYC Flower Market - now there are just 8 (hotels keep buying up property in this area). So important we keep supporting these beautiful and unique flower shops!!! Do pay them a visit. I really hope to go back when I'm in NYC again.

I called Bill at Flowers on Essex the day before my wife’s graduation, not really knowing what I wanted, just that I needed something special. With just a few thoughtful questions, he conjured up the perfect bouquet for my wife and her personality: vibrant, personal, a little chaotic…!

Even with a busy day ahead preparing flowers for a hotel event, he made sure someone was there at 8:30 sharp for my pickup. The whole experience was warm, easy, and fast. Bill made sure to make me feel well taken care of.
