Nice views but everything else is a joke.
A friend and I sat down on one of the couches and ordered a cocktail that contained strawberries and basil, erroneously thinking it would taste of strawberries and basil. It didn't. It was a combination of bitter, sour, and an overwhelming taste of an artificial "something-the-human-body-has-not-evolved-to-drink" je ne sais quoi. I would be interested to see how well this stuff cleans toilets, or melts rust off of old bike parts. (Hey, Coca-Cola does.)
(As an aside, we also ordered a side of burger sliders. They were just about passable, in a wouldn't-quite-get-a-Third-World-country-airline grounded kind of way.)
We send the drinks back, I ask the waitresses for something sweet and fruity, my friend asks for a Manhattan. The drink I get back is a different colour but virtually identical in terns of flavour--same bittet/sour combination. I send it back saying I'll just get a bottle of wine and point at the California Pinot Noir I had in mind.
And now things get REALLY weird.
Out of the blue, the manager comes over, shakes my hand, introduces himself and says that they seem unable to make me happy with the previous drinks and if I wouldn't mind coming over to the bar to make sure the bartender makes me something I would like. My hat off for that, respect, fair is fair, can't fault the place or the guy for trying to make things right. I point out the fact that I've given up on cocktails and just ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir. He says he will have a waitress come over shortly.
A few minutes later a brand new waitress comes over with a glass of Pinot. Letting go of the urge I had to point out that the glass had watermarks and didn't appear to be clean, I instead politely point out that I ordered a bottle. The (new) waitress takes it back for some reason (why not just leave it and bring a bottle???).
And then the original waitress shows up. With a glass of Pinot.
Again, I point out that I asked for a bottle and again she takes it back (WHY NOT JUST LEAVE IT AND BRING A BOTTLE???)
And now things get REALLY REALLY weird.
The manager comes over again, this time brandishing the tab, and informs me that since they are unable to make me happy he will void all the drinks I sent back and I just need to pay for the food and the Manhattan that my friend ordered (and drank). Basically subtly and politely telling us to f*ck off.
Respect for the subtlety, but I have never been (subtly) asked to leave because of the bar's ineptness at making drinks. The (original) waitress comes over, apologises for the experience (respect for owning it even though she wasn't the one making the drinks!) but then says that very drink that gets sent back gets taken out of her wage.
WHY??? She does not make them!
Overall the experience of this place was pretty...
Read moreI went for my cousins birthday and upon walking in the atmosphere and the vibe is very nice. We were excited to be there and enjoyed the views from the rooftop. The food options were very limited but the drinks were great. However, the service their security provided was terrible. Since the food at the rooftop was limited we were advised to go down to the restaurant level to see the menu options. Once we were ready to head back up to the rooftop to join the rest of our party We were told from the security guys at the elevator even though they just saw us come out and were only there a few mins we needed to go downstairs and outside to get a stamp to re enter the building and go back up to the rooftop to join the rest of our party since it was now after 9pm and that is the policy. If that is the policy why wasn’t this made known to us when we were told from the host to go see the menu from the restaurant. The security guy JUSTIN pointed in the direction of the stairs to us. I mentioned I have a disability and asked for directions to the elevator that will take us to the ground level and he REFUSED to accommodate. Instead he proceeded to take the elevator himself while forcing us to take the stairs only to meet us downstairs and proceeded to shout to his co workers in a mocking tone that I had a disability. I even saw the same host outside giving the stamps laughing at the situation. Justin was extremely rude and insensitive. He went out of the way to give us a hard time. Although everyone recognized us from being at the rooftop JUSTIN continued to try and make things difficult for us. Justin even tried to delay / stop us from returning up to the rooftop even though we mentioned the rest of our party was there and I had an open tab. And what was the point of all of this ?? All because I have a disability and was looking to use the elevator? He really left his station just to continue to be rude to us outside and it was all to try and show some time of power over women.
Once we finally got back to the rooftop we were able to speak to a manger. Luckily someone outside witnessed what happened to us and confirmed our story to the manager. The manager seemed to be understanding once we explained the issue to him but I am not sure if anything will be resolved from this. I was highly disappointed that this ended up being my experience. They should learn to treat customers better and accommodate people with a disability without making fun of them. Not a great way to have a business. I will not be returning and would advise others with a disability...
Read morePOC beware! Honestly I shouldn’t be surprised considering the majority of the people coming in and out were white. THE security is awful and inconsistent! They tried to make me pay an $80 ticket to get in because it was after 11 (which isn’t a rule anywhere online as far as I can find) and what makes it worse is also after 11 a moment before I got to the door a group of white young women had gone in without an issue. I was asked if I was with anyone and when I said my friends who had just gone in he said that I am a walk in and gave me a QR code to pay. My friends had arrived 2 minutes before me and they let a security guard know they were waiting for one more and they said it was fine and mentioned nothing about a time constraint. The other security guard even confirmed that. When my friend brought that up, the tall white(?) security guard/ bouncer (who apparently is in charge of tickets) got aggressive and was disrespectful. He said that we’re not special and that we can pay the price or leave and who do we think we are when all we had said was that they didn’t say anything earlier and if they could maybe provide an exception especially since the group in front of me got in. He started ignoring us and despite being ready to go my friend insisted I stay, gave in and was willing to pay. They refused to take cash, contactless payment, or anything when cards weren’t working on the app. While my friend was trying to handle that I watched as several other people got stamped in without paying. Another group of girls claimed to be on a guest list and while it was confirmed there wasn’t one they still got in. I heard other guards talk to other people about getting a table/ bottle instead of a ticket and that wasn’t even offered to us. I even saw another one of the security guards promising a guy that came after us that he would get him in when the guy had some excuse and again no ticket. It was overwhelmingly discriminatory and even when I left my friends to enjoy the night, they let me know that the place was small and isn’t worth the $80 we almost spent. The views were average. The drinks weren’t great. Pretty enough at best but just another predatory bar with awful security and...
