I like Westville ...always delicious food. However, this was my first- and last- visit to the compact Ave. A location. Have eaten at Westville many times - but at Chelsea location only. Was in E. Village yesterday and so it was convenient to give this location a try. I was expecting same standard as Chelsea; only a few tables were occupied and so I figured we'd be served pretty fast. Not so. We waited 45 minutes for our food.

Evidently the place was overwhelmed with takeout orders - several hundred (?) we overheard - and the dining room was literally packed- not with fellow diners - but with hungry takeout customers just standing about and impatiently waiting for their orders 'to go'. People surrounded our table just inches away, hovering about. It was really uncomfortable for us sitting at a table, to have these people lined up all around and glowering over us.

Westville staff made no attempt to control the situation or shoo anyone outside, which is what they should have done. Two stars because our food was still good. However, service was non-existent and the atmosphere just awful. Westville food and ambience should be great - so just avoid this one and head to the other locations where they seem to know better what...

This review is for the lack of courtesy and the management of the restaurant. The food was great. We were there today sitting on the sidewalk patio that is closest to the actual restaurant. As an elderly man went to sit behind me, he fell over the chair and into the wall that separates the tables (for Covid). The wall flipped completely over from the force of his fall and the top beam of the wall hit me square in the back of the head. The older man also fell completely to the ground and could not get back up. The hostess just kind of stood there looking (maybe she was shocked). I had to help him stand up. I stood the wall back up as well as his chair and they moved him and his wife to a new table. After that, a couple of people came to look at the chair and sit in it. But, at no point to did anyone even bother to check on us. Not a single person. No one even acknowledged what happened. I literally got hit upside my head with a metal beam. If you are the manager reading this...I'm fine, btw. It's just bump. But, common courtesy apparently isn't a part of the service there. Go there and enjoy the food (it's good). But, I guess you should be warned that you are eating at your own risk. They will not...

Westville has been on the list to try as it always has such high rating on Yelp every time we are in the East Village. Tonight, a rainy Monday evening felt like it might be a good time to try as there is always a 'wait' every time we passed by.

We were in luck and there was table open for two along the wall. The restaurant even on this night was brisk. The simple menu was easy to decide and long list of sides was harder to decide. We started with the Chef's salad and then went for the Crusted Trout and Moroccan Lamb as entrees. Sides included Brussels sprouts and artichoke hearts. The Trout was flaky, butterfly with bones removed and well seasoned. The lamb was tender in a nice tomato base sauce. I usually love Brussels sprouts but wasn't liking the sweetness from the honey Dijon. The artichoke hearts looked a bit over broiled.

While I have to say Westville was an enjoyable meal. The meal leaving you feel like you ate a healthy meal with friendly service. But for me for as good as it was it wasn't terribly exciting. This is a perfect place to bring all those fussy eating friends where nothing else is agreeable. They will sure to find...

One of Many... While dinning in-between shows we ate at Westville East. But not b4 1st joining their loyalty program on the app which got me $10 off my meal (be aware that only one $10off per table) The restaurant is small, quaint and staff Very Welcoming. We had a reservation for 5people and were seated immediately @5:30pm The wait-staff, bartender and bus-staff all work in tandem to make the Westville experience homey Everyone enJOYed their meals,(I had the special appetizer BBQ Chicken&Cheese Empanadas, delish & not pictured), however the fried chicken sandwich could use a bit more seasonings and less fying... Nice that there are locations all over the city. I will be eating at more next time I'm in the theatre district or at the JOYCE for dance

This used to be my GO-to years ago when I would work on Hudson Street even though I live closer to east village location. All I can say if I went on Friday for dinner and the service is still exactly the same, friendly and sweet. My only complaint were my sweet potato fries came out and were cold and slightly soggy, I prefer them crisper and firmer but the cornmeal crusted shrimp were unexpectedly good and my friend had the Argentine bowl and said it was good. He thought for the price that could have been a few more pieces of steak which I agree with. The cider I had from Hudson Valley was delish!

Cozy and nice market/restaurant around the East Village, Manhattan. It was a little crowded when we went for lunch, didn’t have to wait to be seated. They have outdoor and indoor seatings, with AC inside. They have a great option of food to choose and have special menu for lunch. I ordered the Moroccan Rice Bowl from the special lunch menu with a watermelon lemonade. The watermelon lemonade was amazing, it had the right flavor balance. Food was great, big portion, tasty and healthy. Overall, this restaurant was amazing and it was a good place to start my visit in NYC.
