Further Music School (Forest Hills) — Local services in New York

I would not recommend this school to anyone! They have 0 loyalty and courtesy to their students. I will never go back to them. My daughter just got dropped after being with them for 9 months now. The reason being was that I tried to pay couple days after the due date. without a warning or a phone call or even an email, they gave away her spot to someone else! They gave me a few days to pay which was due on 5/2. I got an email on that weekend saying the invoice was cancelled. I had no idea why and I called on Monday trying to find out why and that’s when they told me because I didn’t pay the invoice on time and the system just dropped us! It is my first time hearing something like this happened! Linda Moon was the one I spoke to and she said there was a message on an invoice states that! I mean seriously how many ppl would go and read a message on an invoice! Then she promised she would speak to the person who registered and get back to me! Guess what?! She never called back after! Even on a regular basis, I have to write to them a few times to get a response! My daughter was extremely upset and frustrated about this! Make sure you pay on time or u get dropped without a warning!!!!! They don’t care if you are with them...

Further Music has been a blessing for my eldest son. We’ve been here for about a year now and my son has improved his piano skills quite a lot with his instructor Ms Marla in just a short period. She’s a wonderful teacher. She gives him challenges and he practices at home a lot in order to do better each week. The new location in Forest Hills on 72nd is also fantastic. It’s on the third floor, they offer group and private lessons. They also just got a grand piano at this location and it sounds GRAND! In the near future, I plan on sending my younger son to Further Music. We may try guitar with TJ or perhaps stick with piano with Ms Marla or Ms Kelly, whomever is available. Either way, I have high praises for all of the instructors here. We’ve had a substitute teacher Mr Matthew who emphasizes a lot on learning to read notes which is one of my son’s weaknesses and he was great. It was a slight change of pace and tune with a different teacher but he brought a lot fun to our session and also a different teaching approach that...

The past 5 years have been a great experience with Further Music School Forest Hills Location. We are so lucky to have Ms. Alice Colby as my daughter’s first violin instructor. She is an amazing violin teacher. My daughter started to study violin with Ms. Alice at age 4. Ms. Alice is super patient, nice and professional. Violin is such a difficult instrument. She made it so much fun and easier for my daughter to learn. My little girl loves her lesson. She even loves practice because she always wants to show Ms. Alice how well she can play in the next class. Ms. Alice helped my daughter to accomplish so many things: my daughter passed audition to get into a youth orchestra program in Long Island at age 6, got silver medal in 2023 Vivo international music competition at age 8, and this year under her instruction, my daughter got accepted by Manhattan School of Music precollege program with merit-based scholarship.
