Read moreDisgusting employee behavior and practices at this location...last time I checked preordering a game or product means you reserve the right to get said product the day of release and/or bonus for pre orders ...NOT HERE at gamestop.
I Fully paid for the product months before by the way. Went to pick it up, day of release...went like so: ME: Hi, here to pick up my preorder. Employee: You have to come back tomorrow our system is down.. ME: Why was I not notified? I hurried here to get it the day of. Employee: We don't do that with notifications, but you can get it in the morning, probably.( so not even sure I can get it next day either) Me: I work, also this location isn't close to me... Employee: You can send someone else to pick it up for you..
So as you see this moron thought Gamestop screwing up meant I should go out of my way after paying as well. Not them compensating me for the inconvenience or offering anything at all.... Mind Blowingly the company is near collapse and only thing holding it together is the fact that it became a meme stock.
Nevertheless they send out 10 emails for every order confirmation and 100 emails of advertising to offer trade ins for my belongings at 10% of its value. They couldn't send 1 email to say sorry we are having issues, here's a 5 dollar coupon for the inconvenience... I don't know what happened to gamestop over the years, I used to love shopping there because you can have an awesome conversation with people that have similar hobbies...now every employee is just disrespectful, never offering a solution that works, or just miserable like we forced them behind the counter.. Never again...I will even pay more elsewhere and gladly , or buy digital and shop elsewhere because Gamestop is dead to me and will actually be dead to the world and go the way of the dodo in a few years anyhow. You would think a failing company would hire and invest in training their talent....not start investing in bitcoin and trading cards....
Adding this few days afterwards, still never got my stuff and they screwed up my refund...and feel free to read the reviews before mine, same pattern of horrible customer service and handling errors they make in the worst way imaginable. Store needs to clean...
Read moreThe only reason to shop at Gamestop is they bought Funcoland and EB games, so there's no other choice anymore. The staff is always subpar at a Gamestop, but don't blame the entry level associates, they are usually young and trying their best.
There's nothing wrong with being a sales org owned by asset managers, but GS takes the game to a stranger and more soulless level.
Last time I went in, I was told I had to join their membership club (which costs money) to be allowed to buy a PS5!
What I like about them is the Nintendo gear they carry, thanks largely to Nintendo. The used stuff is nice to have too.
They stopped repairing consoles, and God forbid they sell you a faulty gift card, you will be out of luck and they will make you argue with the gift card company for your money back, which will usually refer you back to Gamestop.
I had to haggle with Nintendo for a week to get my money back, and they looked out for me eventually. Gamestop left me hanging out to dry.
The management culture in Gamestop is not customer friendly, and their company culture is not great. They have a lot of turnover. I feel bad for people who work there, they expect you to offer them your full schedule so they can give you bareley part time, if you're job hunting, skip this company unless you're 18.
The Union Sq. location is ok, with an ok selection of merch. They will have you wait in line for a while, so don't try to get something if you are in a hurry. If you stand by the window near closing time to look at stuff, even with the door closed, a staff member will aggressively signal to you to go away because they are closed. What a miserable atmosphere.
Do not bring your kids to this overpriced customer service dumpster fire.
I'll end on a positive note, Gamestop associates usually know a lot about games, so you can ask them questions about games when...
