Me and my wife have known Shuhei for almost 10 years. Being someone who is in the service industry as a bartender, it is very important for us to look good and neat and he has been the only person I can trust with my hair for the past few years, especially when I started to get into different colors.

My large forehead / looking like receding hair line has always been my complex, but thanks to him I have always been confident to set my hair in whatever way he created and over the years we have tried a lot of styles (I love variety a lot) and each of them were memorable and amazing in its own ways.

People always appreciate my hair style, or color and this is all thanks to not only my stylist but amazing friend Shuhei for all this time and future to come.

Few years ago he found his amazing partner Kana san, who is also an amazing hair stylist. Together they worked hard and opened Hair MOAT New York this year, and I never write reviews, but I just really sincerely want to recommend this place to anyone looking for a Stylist who will make you look amazing, and a Salon that you can trust for a long time!

Not only do they do amazing hair, they help teach you to take care of it in the long term, such as products you can use, care routine you can have, options in the styling and longevity of the hair quality, etc.

Another thing I really like is that they are not scared to have a conversation with you if a specific style you are looking for may not be appropriate to your hair quality / structure, or length at that time. They will try to find a solution with you and will always have the best interest for you.

But yeah seriously recommend this place! I may sound biased because I know them for a long time, but that's because not only are they amazing stylists, but they are also an amazing couple who will give you that friendly cozy feel, and they are now my precious friends in life!

Shuhei is the only person I trust to cut my hair! I’ve been going to get my hair cut from him for years now and have always followed him when he moved salons. I’m so happy that he has opened his own salon with his wife Kana, as I know this has been a longtime dream for him!

I always walk away extremely happy with my cut/color. Shuhei has always been professional, friendly, and great at giving me the haircut I ask for. I especially appreciate that I can always show him a couple of inspo photos of what I am looking for, and he will do his best to give me exactly what I want while also considering what is best for my hair type! I’ve been having Shuhei and Kana cut my hair for over 7 years! This time I was concerned about the frizz and waves in my hair, so I decided to get a keratin treatment and a haircut. I’ve been hearing about the smells and damages to our hair but, this one had absolutely no smell, and there was no damage to my hair; it became incredibly smooth. Thanks to this, styling my hair every day has become much easier, and I was finally able to try the hairstyle I had always wanted.
