Extremely disappointing experience. It's my 1st time at Holos and I can’t understand how so many positive reviews may exist.
Water temperature was too hot and the tank has poor ventilation (extremely poor, worse than at a fully packed subway station w/a AC, worse than waiting for the L train at 14th St at a hazardously sunny day in NYC). And this ventilation leads to the tiny shower cabin that has no ventilation at all.
I was lying on the water and feeling how sweat drops were running down my face and sometimes I felt like it's not enough air there.. and I'm not claustrophobic, I don't having panic attacks and I know how to breathe and meditate. So basically sweating without any air was more like a torture.
I reached for help. The receptionist demonstrated a lack of empathy (like a smiling robot) and wasn’t helpful at all: she started to reproduce those advertising texts that you can find in every description of what sensory deprivation/floating is - about water temperature that is the same as the temperature of my body and blah blah. I tried to explain that my experience has nothing in common with what was promised and water is HOT. It's not like my body. It's not even a few degrees warmer. It's damn HOT. I was standing there naked in the towel and just didn’t believe that she’s still repeating ads. Actually feeling of her freshly treated hair and how it looks bothered her much more than figuring out what’s wrong, or at least checking is everything okay with the tank? If you don’t care about clients mb tank bothers you?
So, I used to open the tank door, and it suppose to ruin the experience, but it wasn’t something bad in my case, because tank is not fully light- & soundproof as advertised.......... Actually opening the door cooled down the water a bit, but I felt a little bit better only when I was out of time.
Additionally, the shower had poor water pressure, so it was energy consuming (x20 than a regular shower) to wash off the salty water and then the soap. The dressing area is tiny and designed uncomfortable (and I’m petite actually), and since there is no ventilation, it’s impossible to dry yourself fully. No proper seat for changing. The seating place is designed especially to become wet after shower and make the client choose: to sit on the wet tile or use it to place your dry clothes? No rug too. Blowdryers are located in bathrooms and their quality tells us that they were purchased by a bald person.
It was supposed to be some sort of relaxing experience. I was tired and burned out, and now I’m still tired, burned out, but in addition I’m disappointed and angry. I spent almost 3 hours in transit, lost half of my day off and $100, and received an additional portion of bonus gaslighting (it was free or included in price?).
UPD:
After posting this I decided to read 1-star reviews and I see that 4 years ago somebody was sweating there too. I'm questioning why do you treat clients differently and apologized there, but at the same time receptionist is not aware that it's not the experience you wish your clients would have? I repeated many times that I'm sweating there, and she continued to advertise how floating should feel and to convince me that everything is okay. After she said the punchline about seamless feeling, I said "What I feel is far away from seamless, water is hot" and she said she's sorry. She's sorry. What is wrong with your business? After client says stuff like that, she suppose to grab water thermometer, go there and figure out what's wrong: it may be T indicator on your side, ventilation, warming system, wires, all together, whatever, etc..
If you don't have a water thermometer I would suggest to purchase them for manual checking, there are some decent options around $10-15 on Amazon. You definitely can afford it, especially if you will stop overpaying that girl. She looked too relaxed for a person who works in a customer service without understanding what it is.
I added screenshots, because I don't want you to reply that I was never your client of sweating in the...
Read moreUnfortunately, I did not have a great experience. This was my first time in a float so I admit I'm not sure what it's supposed to be like. When we arrived, the entire introduction was just "here are earplugs if you want them, here is a headrest, shower before and after your float session." That was it, a 10 second intro and off we went.
First thing I noticed was hair on the wall inside the float and random specks in the tub. I go back out when I realize I will definitely need the ear plugs and headrest. It took me another few minutes to figure out how to use the headrest float ring, as I have never seen anything like it. Once you're in the float, there's 3 buttons. 2 out of the 3 were not working for me. I could not turn on the music, and I could not turn off the blue light. I could only use the star button.
I finally decided to stop messing around and just try to float and relax. I actually felt that the float was TOO strong -- like my shoulders were too lifted by the water and it was tense instead of relaxing. I also then got extremely hot and had to open the tank door to let some air in. I then splashed water on my face at one point, only to experience burning in my eyes (which I realize may sound obvious to some, but I really had no clue what I was getting into). I realize I was doing this wrong, but I really think a more thorough explanation beforehand would have helped.
I also wasn't sure if there was a set time for me to shower after the float, so I ended up getting out before the time was up to make sure I had enough time to shower properly.
Once we left, I asked my partner for his experience. He said his pod smelled like throw up (mine didn't). He said that his light button didn't work, but the music and star one did. He said the temperature in his could have been warmer actually (which matches what different review here says about them being different temperatures). HOWEVER, he said that after 20 minutes he was finally able to relax. For that, I gave this...
Read moreI have had a brief experience before in Mexico with float relaxation. When I found Infinity Float on Groupon, I very much wanted to try it again. As I was running totally stressed out and about 10 minutes late for my appointment, the wonderful woman at the front desk ressured me calmly that I would have plenty of time for my session. ( They somewhat anticipate this and give you plenty of time to unwind, both before/ after the session.) Very smartly done, with the emphasis on the well-being of the customer, and not how many appointments they can pack into a day. The private floating bath and shower room were immaculate, and stocked with everything from ear plugs to shampoo to body lotion to blow dryers. The ambiance in the pool area is exquisite, dim colored lights, light up stars on the ceiling ( that realistically mimic stars in the sky) and soft music. Could hear no outside noises. It took about 30 minutes for me to totally relax and enter a kind of meditive state. It's easier for me to relax my body than my mind, but this is the one of the few things I have found that reduces my anxiety and puts my mind at rest for a brief moment.
The only complaint I have is that I wish they gave you a foot towel or mat for when you stepped out of the bath. The floor is slippery with wet feet. However, after getting dressed, I noticed they provided you with slippers, which would have also solved the problem.
Definitely would recommend, maybe not for people who are extremely claustrophobic or need a phone in their hands at all times. Even though the pool room is probably the size of some people's bedrooms in Manhattan.
Lovely staff and ambiance. I love that Infinity Float is not just another "gimmick" spa. They take their time with you. In the waiting room, they have research books proving the benefits of water floating, as well as other self- help wellness books designed to take the best care of your mind and body the holistic/ healthy...
