This company did a wonderful job of renovating my new apartment. It was a small tiny one bedroom with an ugly kitchen and terrible bathroom with ugly blue tiles. Jakob was the main guy with his excellent assistant Matthew. They gave me good advice and explained the renovation process. They also told me what would work well what would not work so well. What’s especially nice about this company is that they seem to have specialists in each area such as plumbing, electricity and doing tiles and plastering and painting. They gave me daily updates about everything that was going on and time to time they would ask my option about what I specifically wanted. They totally remade the bathroom into a white gorgeous tiled cute space that is bright and fun. The kitchen was old wooden cabinets and cheap linoleum on the floor. After they renovated it now it has really nice gray modern cabinets with the white tile black splash and a black countertop. When people see it they say it looks really cool. Oh and the floor is so much nicer with bright white Tiles. What I really respect about this company is that they really care about the job they do. The workers were polite and respectful to my wife. When the job was finished I had an entirely new bedroom for my baby girl. This company did a wonderful plastering and painting the walls and installing all good light fixtures and plumbing along with the electricity. Like I said this company has special people doing each job which is really important. Finally the price was very reasonable. Jakub gave me a full estimate at the beginning of the job and that’s what it cost me at the end of the job.They kept to a good schedule and worked hard every day. Actually the manager of the building told me they saw them working hard every day. I had the manager of the building into the apartment to help me with something and he couldn’t believe it was the same apartment from six weeks ago. If you are planning on renovating your apartment I really suggest using this company because you won’t be disappointed. They really listen to what you want and if anything is wrong they come back and fix it and do not leave until the job is done to your satisfaction. I knew nothing about Jakub and his construction company when I asked him to bid on my apartment renovation project. The only reason I asked asked for his bid was to keep the contractor I had in mind honest. To my surprise, when I received his bid, he was well below the other guy, so I decided to interview him. Needless to say, he charmed me with his straightforward, easy going manner. So I said, f* it, for once in my life let me listen to my instincts, and I hired him.

I have dealt with many contractors in my life, as I am a civil engineer by profession, and I have to admit that even the best ones caused me some agida at some point. Not so with Jakub. First of all, he's extremely well organized; every week I received from him a detail spreadsheet with the status of every aspect of the job. Second, he remained on schedule throughout, despite the fact that deliverables and some of the subs didn't always cooperate. Third, he didn't hit me with any change orders, even though the architect's plans weren't always clear, and, if he wanted to, he could have taken advantage of that. Fourth and last, he always kept a positive, friendly disposition, which, I have to say, it's probably one of the most important things in the midst of all the stresses inherent to major apartment renovation.

Jakub and his team did a wonderful job with the semi-remodel of one of our bathrooms and a total remodel of our other bathroom. I chose to redesign both baths myself (i.e., without an architect or designer). That means I spent a lot of time and effort (with many mistakes along the way) figuring out not only what fixtures to get but also where fixtures would go and what parts would work with which fixture, which is a lot harder than it sounds. Both bathrooms are typical NYC affairs--tiny and therefore complicated-- where every square inch matters. Jakub and his team were great about helping me figure out those details and providing good advice. And when things didn’t turn out that well or didn’t look quite right, they were amenable to redoing things. It was obvious they wanted to do a good job. For example, when the grout around the perimeter of my retiled bathroom (tile over tile) sunk into a little channel, they readily agreed to fix it. When I noticed that something was off center, they immediately agreed to redo the placement. There were a few snafus along the way, but what was most important was the level of communication between their team and me. They tried to be as responsive as they could given their increasingly busy schedule.
