I recently moved to flushing and needed to find a new dermatologist close by. I decided to go to Dr. Chan because she had great reviews on Google stating she was caring and patient with her clients. However I did not have a that experience here. I’d like to go to a doctor that cares and listens, and doesn’t rush me out the office after seeing me for less than 5 minutes. I had a terrible skin rash/infection on my ear. I’ve dealt with eczema my entire life so I knew this was not eczema. When I showed her the rash/infection, her first question was, “Did you wear any jewelry?” I told her no. I explained my situation to her and how it started as a swollen ear lobe, and a few cuts/open scabs, then turned into bigger scabs with cracked and bleeding/oozing skin (Sorry for the image). She continued to try to tell me multiple times that it can be from jewelry. It happens when patients wear different jewelry. Each time I had to respond I do not wear jewelry. She didn’t want to explain to me what she thought my rash/infection was (other than the jewelry causing it) I had to take the initiative to ask her to educate me on what was wrong with my skin, so I could possibly avoid this happening again in the future. Which she continue to tell me it could be from jewelry. She did not listen to me at all. When I tried to show her the original size of the scab with my hands she didn’t even look at me until I had to stop talking to wait for her to actually look. Then she gave me a side eye look for 2 seconds, as if it just took away all her energy to actually pay attention to what I was saying. She just wanted to prescribe me something based off what she thought it was without listening to a word I was saying when I told her multiple times repeatedly I don’t wear jewelry. In the end, I believe got what I needed regardless in terms of medication/ointments (cus I asked for it specifically) but I will not be coming back to a doctor that doesn’t listen to me and decides she knows my body and what I do better than me. God forbid I actually had a more serious skin issue, this is not the doctor that will go above and beyond to make sure you are healthy. I will not be coming back here. Never waste your time with incompetent doctors. You deserve a doctor that...
Read moreThis was my first time seeing a dermatologist and I chose Dr. Chan because she has the best reviews in Flushing (which I now question). There was only one vibe that I got when she was diagnosing me: RUSH. She kept giving me the feeling that she needed to go to the next patient and didn't have time for me to explain my issues. It's like she already had in her mind how my visit is gonna go, what my issues are, what we should be discussing; nothing more, nothing less. And she looked IMPATIENT when I tried to tell her more, which made me very uncomfortable as I thought she was supposed to be my listener and my helper.
I'm in no place to advise how professionals run their businesses. But I would assume naturally, if she has too many patients, it will be her clinic's responsibility to better manage their time and resources more efficiently, given the highest priority is to ensure all of its patients are getting the attention and care that they need and DESERVE (I remember this being part of the doctors' code and ethics that they uphold). And a doctor who is willing to listen more and dig deeper into our issues is all we ever ask for as patients.
Overall, I didn't feel good walking out the clinic the other day. Her energy managed to make me afraid of asking more, and she made me feel that my issues were nothing serious (which I hope it's a good thing). PATIENCE is something this...
Read moreI called this office and Mimi picked up the phone with a very low mousy voice. I said speak up and then she did. She sounds like a old maid. Very lazy and probably low pay like $10 an hour. Paid like a security guard. She asked for my member ID, and she cannot comprehend English. I had to tell this lady like 3-5 times. Shows not paying attention and probably just want to collect money from doctor for pay and ruin the doctor’s business. Every client is a potential and must be treated with good customer service. She had to ask my birthday like 3-5 times. All she had to do was take my subscriber ID and group ID and call the provider. She was unwilling to do that! What kind of shop is being run here????? Lazy a$%^&** receptionist who didn't want to call provider to check if insurance is good. Inexperience and extremely lazy probably. if you hire those type of people, this doctor will lose a lot of business. Stay away from this place, the reviews might not be all that good and probably fake where Mimi the receptionist wrote them on her down time. Receptionist is extremely very unprofessional and the worst I encounter in seeing hundreds of doctors. Will waste your time. Go to some other doctor. Not worth time to get into back and forth with low class receptionist. That's why she is receptionist or clean bathroom person...
