I was referred to this magnificent place by my physician Dr.Robert Y.Lin to find a primary care doctor. He gave me along with his referral an online sheet of Charles Wang locations and hours. On the same day, I went to the one located in Manhattan but they booked me with a nurse, not an internist. Therefore, I later on searched the Charles B Wang health center website and saw the list of staff and selected an internist in Queens by the name of Tao Wu. I spoke with him on the telephone to ascertain that he could deal with my blood disorder and he sounded reasonable. The staff are assiduous. The location is a wonderland -Chinatown Flushing is brimming with close at hand shops, stores, replete of things to do. The building is well-maintained and communal. The waiting room is decorous. The nurses before meeting with the doctor have checked my pulse, weight, and asked me brief health questions.
The center has doctors from many wide specialties. At my first appointment,Dr.Wu Tao was mannerly, formal and he spent an hour or so in private, indefatigably answering and bringing forth health questions. In his computer he listed every vitamin I took and my significant health history issues.Dr.Wu kindly told me to step up the exam table and he did the head and neck exam, abdominal exam (I laid down and he checked my stomach for any irregularities),he did the neurological exam (foot kick,I held one of his fingers to test balance, etc) and he asked me if I wanted to complete the breast checkup exam with him and I replied "yes, let us get over with it."He was chivalrous, as I was taking off all my garment, he pulled the sleeve back on my shoulder saying, it was not necessary to take it all off.He respectfully observed both of my breasts to detect any problems. He patted my breasts to analyze if there were suspected issues.
Hence, Dr.Wu referred me to take a diagnostic mammogram just to make sure the breast were benign and he referred me to ENT Dr.Chan for he detected an inflamed lymph node and ear wax. Dr.Wu led me through the corridor and handed a nurse the blood tests he requested for I to take. The nurse painlessly drew my blood (about seven vials of diverse testing)I did the urinalysis test at the center's restroom but the nurse provided me the stool test kit to finish at home. When I called Dr.Wu's secretary he was occupied with a patient at that time but he returned my telephone call as soon as he finished attending the patient. He approved my short medication question and he discovered that my mammogram results were benign on his computer.
On my second visit, Dr.Wu read to me my blood test results on his computer. He has a herculean task of attending all his patients that are waiting for him -there are some days that he has a large quantity of patients. Dr.Wu speaks clearly and is well-grounded in his ethical persona. On a different day,Dr.Wu and I conversed of what vitamins to stop taking in case of an overload -I like to circle in ink my areas of improvement or otherwise so I told Dr.Wu which I should cross out. He told me with a smile to call him if I have any questions and to make an appointment for several months from now to check up on my health. Dr.Wu is a swell doctor! I thank all the staff including Regina L for managing so well the...
Read moreWe've been bringing our two children to the pediatric department at the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center for years, and we couldn't be happier with the care they've received.
It's easy to think of writing a review only when we are dissatisfied, but excellence deserves recognition too. Dr. Christine Shen has been our primary care physician, and her kindness, expertise, and dedication have been a constant source of comfort for our family. My oldest child, who is approaching the age limit for pediatric care, often expresses concern about finding another doctor he trusts as much as Dr. Shen. She has truly set a high standard with her attentiveness and genuine care.
In addition to Dr. Shen, we've also been seen by other PCPs at this location for walk-in same-day sick visits. Dr. Kim and Dr. Chan have been particularly impressive. Each doctor brings their unique personality to their practice—some are more bubbly, others more serious—but the level of care and attentiveness is consistently excellent across the board. It's clear that dedication and commitment are core values here.
As my two children are approaching adulthood, I know we will miss our doctor and the staff here. Thank you to Dr. Shen, Dr. Kim, Dr. Chan, and the entire team at the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center for your unwavering dedication and excellence. We are truly grateful for the exceptional care you provide and highly recommend their pediatric services to any parent looking for a trustworthy and compassionate healthcare provider.
By the way, I love...
Read moreThis is an excellent health center facility. As a new patient, I was able to schedule an appointment over the phone for intake with a specialist. Intake was fast, and an appointment was scheduled quite sooner than I expected. Upon arrival at the OB/GYN front desk on the 2nd floor, I had to present my insurance and ID, as well as complete intake forms with paper and on a tablet. The front desk lady was able to go over everything I was filling out and signing, including the pre-mental health screening and HIPAA forms.
The intake nurse and Dr. Christine Kim were phenomenal! They made me feel welcomed and comfortable, and they treated me with care so that I can get the appropriate screenings and exams done. I really appreciate the way Dr. Kim explained every procedure and was very patient with me (I had a horrible & traumatic experience with another OB/GYN professional in another clinic not affiliated with Charles B. Wang Center). Thank you Dr. Kim and the OB/GYN staff!
This center also has other services such as mental health, urology, internal medicine, and much more. I am not a local to Flushing, but I am willing to make the trip so that I can be treated here for my medical needs all-in-one. They also have an online portal to keep track of your visits, request appointments or message health professionals, and monitor your medications for refill requests. Thank you Charles B. Wang Community...
