Ira's Daycare & Preschool — Local services in New York

I had my child in this daycare for many months up until I got fed up with this place and took my child out. Ms Linda is a horrible person. She kept antagonizing me and some friends of mine whom are also parents and have their children here. She kept threatening us to kick our children out because we had concerns about their behavior and wanted to see the cameras. She never allowed me to see the cameras whenever I said something she would always respond with a mean and nasty attitude. She will yell at me and say “well if you don’t like it then leave” or “you always have a complain” which I never really did. I only asked to see the cameras about 3 times. So no, I did not always have a complaint. She lied and said the footage deleted after 2 days. Which is illegal, daycares need to have the footages up until 30 days. Ms Linda never allowed us to see the cameras and kept gaslighting us saying that everything is ok. I once stood there for about a good 20 minutes to see my child being ignored and I cried because my child only wanted to play or have some attention. My child is less than 2 years old. My child is a sweet baby and always has been until starting this daycare. My baby would come home crying and scared and started acting erratic. My baby started hitting herself in the head but because I later found out Ms Linda was hitting her head to be quiet and to sleep. And that’s when I realized the bumps came from. Ms Linda was abusing my child. My baby is afraid of this lady. My baby always came home starving, thirsty, and tired. They kept telling me that my child was sleeping and eating but it was a lie. My child would come home with bruises and marks and bumps on her body and head. Ms Linda would always talk down on me and make me feel bad and I’m not the only person that can say this about her. My son has been attending Ira’s Briarwood Daycare and Preschool since he was 8 months old. Out of all daycares in the area, I chose this one because of the excellent menu, hours of operation, level of attention and care from both teachers, staff and Executive Director. Before I completed the registration, I did speak with a few parents outside of the facility to see how they like Ira and their experiences. Most were positive and I was happy with the reviews, the tour of the facility, and the discussion with the Executive Director.

They provide healthy food such as organic milk, yogurt, freshly made veggie soup everyday, fresh fruits, and healthy meals. I also like that this place is for working families, their hours of operation is from 7am to 6pm and they close the facility annually about 12 days a year.

They keep the facility really clean and the teachers are very kind, loving, knowledgeable and helpful. Every time I call, I always speak with someone and not the answer machine or receptionist Telling me that someone will call me back. The executive director always returns your call asap and is very attentive with everything that happens at the facility and addresses any concerns also asap.

Most importantly, my son has thriving, learning, meeting awesome teachers and friends. He’s happy there.

Their holiday shows are awesome… they put a lot of time, thought and money into coordinating these wonderful shows. It’s a great experience to watch the children recite and perform.

No place can be perfect and may not be for everyone. You need to try it out and see for yourself.

I read comments that Ira is racist? That’s not even remotely correct. The place is a diverse facility. My son is biracial ( asian and black). I have never felt he was mistreated or discriminated against for his skin color or...

My 5 year old daughter has been attending this daycare since she was 6 weeks old, and words cannot express the gratitude we feel towards the amazing team here. From the very first day, they welcomed us with open arms, creating a warm and nurturing environment that quickly became a second home for our little girl.

The caregivers are nothing short of extraordinary. Their kindness, patience, and genuine love for the children shine through in everything they do. They have been instrumental in shaping our daughter into the confident, curious, and compassionate child she is today. The activities are thoughtfully planned, blending learning and play in ways that engage young minds and hearts. Whether it’s arts and crafts, outdoor play, or storytime, our daughter always comes home with a big smile and exciting stories to share.

What truly stands out is the sense of community at this daycare. The staff go above and beyond to create a supportive, family-like atmosphere, where every child is celebrated for who they are. We’ve witnessed our daughter form strong bonds with both her peers and her caregivers, and we know these relationships will have a lasting positive impact on her life.

Everytime I prepare for the next chapter in my daughter’s journey, i do so with hearts full of gratitude. This daycare will a not only caring for my child—they’ve helped her thrive in ways we couldn’t have imagined. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to her early years.
