I've been wearing my Kataoka engagement ring for exactly a week now and I. CAN'T. STOP. STARING. AT. IT!!! It is perfect.
My fiancé (!!!) and I spent nearly six months looking for the perfect engagement ring. We visited Catbird, Anna Sheffield, and the Diamond District and we considered websites like Blue Nile and Brilliant Earth. While part of me really wanted something super unique, I couldn't help but feel drawn to the classic look of a round cut diamond on a gold band. Other than that, I also didn't want my diamond to sit high because I think it looks dated and I didn't want to feel like my ring could catch on things or snag fabrics.
Just when my fiancé was about to lose hope on finding the perfect ring that was also within his budget, a friend of his mentioned Kataoka. He sent me a link to their website and I looked through all of the designs. I loved what I saw but I was even more impressed by the fact that Kataoka uses conflict-free diamonds and blends their own metals. While having a conflict-free diamond was never a deal breaker for me, it was definitely a sigh of relief to realize I could find a unique engagement ring with conflict-free diamonds.
When we went to the TriBeCa location to browse the rings, we were greeted by Anis, who is the COO of the company. He was so friendly, helpful, and most importantly, knowledgable. Moreover, he was patient with us as I asked to try on ring after ring after ring! Looking at the rings and talking with Anis completely solidified our confidence in Kataoka. For my fiancé, especially, I knew he finally had a sense of peace about this very important purchase!
It was a long journey to find the perfect ring, but it was well worth the wait! I love my ring and it is the perfect symbol of the relationship and love I have with my fiancé! Not to mention, my ring fits ALL of my criteria - classic AND unique, sits low, and has a conflict-free diamond - it is a literal work of art! My fiancé and I are already looking forward to purchasing our wedding bands...
Read moreThis review is long overdue! I first discovered kataoka back in 2016 through an Instagram ad, and I was instantly floored by the beauty of their jewelry. I remember pinning their rings to my Pinterest board of dream engagement rings (I wasn’t even in a relationship then, but a girl can dream!) and even sent screenshots to my best friends, telling them to save the brand name and let my “future husband” know that I wanted a kataoka ring.
Fast forward a couple of years, I met that future husband. When we started having serious talks about marriage, I brought him to the kataoka boutique to look at rings. That’s where we met Anis, who was so kind, patient, and knowledgeable. My then-boyfriend asked some tough (and, honestly, embarrassing to me!) questions about pricing compared to other jewelers, but Anis answered everything with grace and respect, and we left feeling completely at ease.
I knew the ring I wanted—the stunning Iris Marquise—and we returned several times again to be sure and try on other rings. But about a year later, we decided to go the custom route since my husband had inherited a diamond from his mother. The kataoka team guided us through the entire process seamlessly, even expediting the timeline so he could propose on an upcoming trip. The design, the communication, and the craftsmanship were flawless, and the final piece was beyond what I could have imagined. I still get compliments on my engagement ring all the time—it’s so unique and unlike anything else on the market. We later returned for my wedding band, which pairs beautifully with the engagement ring.
Everything from kataoka feels so special. You can tell there is incredible artistry, inspiration from nature, and care poured into each design. I’ve since told my husband that I don’t want jewelry from anywhere else—and I already have my eye on my next ring!

Read moreMy husband and I recently purchased a paraiba snowflake ring as a replacement engagement ring. I have been on the lookout for a ring for several years now and have been a huge fan of Kataoka's rings for quite some time.
I was extremely excited to learn that they had opened their flagship store in NYC where my husband and I went to go look in person. And oh my gosh the pictures on Instagram and their website do not do the jewelry justice! They look even more phenomenal in person when you actually see the jewelry shine in the light.
Needless to say we fell in love with many of the styles and Anis was patient with us and guided us to choose the perfect one. Turnover time was faster than the month promise listed on the website and we received it in the mail with the ring packaged securely inside.
Anis was extremely quick in his responses to my numerous e-mails about my order. It was a pleasure to work with him! He is very attentive and knowledgeable in his trade.
The ring itself is extremely intricate and impeccably unique. The custom blended beige gold is almost an in-between to classic white gold and yellow gold in color. The stones shine brilliantly in both bright and low light. While some people may worry that the band is too thin, it actually is not due to the thickness in the height of the band itself, giving its sturdy structure. The ring is very comfortable on the hand and not chunky. We got the ring custom engraved (no extra fee) and the lettering is extremely clear yet so small and delicate on the inner band.
Thank you very much for making our experience pleasurable. We will cherish this piece with us for a lifetime and look forward to shopping with Kataoka...
