Laderach chocolate was first shared with me in 2023. (In truth, I found it quite good.) This week, in 2025, I again received Laderach chocolate (yet something delayed my eating it; I became curious about the company and its values): I Googled the company, and saw horrific allegations of abuse against children involving the family who owns and operates this brand (they say that person stepped down, but this would not cure the problem: if allegations are true, it’s fruit from the poisonous tree). Even more concerning to me, the person who gifted the Laderach chocolate came across Laderach through Times Square Church in NYC. Around 2018, I reported to Times Square Church that a rapist was working at the church. (The church said they would only act if I gave the same information to the police, and that I should tell the church as soon as I told the police…the church said they would then remove the rapist from the church. The church warned the rapist that police were investigating him, and the police investigation was thwarted.) The point: Christian values and a relationship with Christ are incompatible with the conduct alleged against Laderach and the acts by the church. My Christian values do not permit me to overlook and dismiss allegations of this nature, nor can I eat Laderach goods. I pray God reveals if the allegations against Laderach be TRUE or FALSE. Yet, Laderach’s connection to a church that I KNOW has covered up wrongdoing made it seem more likely than not (in my opinion) that wrongdoing by Laderach could be found, if further probed. I believe the old adage ‘birds of feather flock together’ ring true. I’ve neither been accused of child abuse OR of warning a rapist: I do not commit such acts, nor do I eat chocolate or attend church at entities accused...
Read moreSKIP RACIST STORE: I have bought laderach chocolate multiple times before - I infact bought 100 bucks worth of chocolate last week and went into this store to buy some more (for friends)
The chocolate is good, this review is a reflection of the profiling I experienced at the store on 11/13 at around 2:05 pm ET. You can ask for tasters at the store so I walled up to the counter and asked for a sample - there were 3 other white gentlemen who were shopping right next to me.
The gentlemen was asking for samples and had about 4 or 5 tasters, the lady serving him was preoccupied so she called in a colleague - immediately she stared me down (I was wearing simple jeans and sneakers) on my request to try another flavor she took tiny piece ans gave it to me and before I could say anything she stared me down and said she can't give me anymore due to store policy of 3 samples each
Now either this is true and they didn't apply the same standards to the gentlemen near me or its blatantly false and she felt I would not have bought any chocolate - in the past every laderach store I've visited they've given me more than 3 samples (if someone from mgmt reads this, contact me ,happy to share receipts)
Either ways, at best it's bad salesmenship, at worst I felt like she was judging/profiling me for how I looked - in any instance you can believe I am done with Laderach and will be passing my feedback along to...
Read moreSad state of mind. I walk in and was greeted by a female member, who looked like she slept in her uniform. The white shirt barely fit her figure as well as the pants. As far as chocolate knowledge. The only explanation was it's from Switzerland. Unfortunately, no social distancing was practiced in this store. To many people roaming around. I believe a manager, who should have controlled all these infractions was non existent. Let alone no one was wearing gloves And all masks were worn incorrectly. At, this point I walked out. Tried once again. Chocolate slabs in windows on shelves with no protective features/ barriers, or anything other than air between the chocolate and the counter. So much for pandemic prevention. I visited the site on Lexington Avenue and 58 st. Another sad state of mind. A manager who barely fits into vest , was annoyed he had to stick Santa hats on chocolate canister. His mask was below his nose. And didn't want to adhere to new CDC guidelines It is sad that they have this calavir attitude as if covid-19does'nt exist . Case in point Chocolate slabs left on window ledges with no coverage or any type of enclosure that would provide protection from the air once the door opens. I'm sure your regional manager will just pretend that you're don't have to worry about ineptitude of staff and make excuses for...
