I never post reviews on google but my experience with my Royce rolling briefcase is worth being shared. I am a trial attorney and spend 90 percent of my time in court. This type of job requires a sturdy rolling briefcase that I can bring to and from court from my office which is two blocks away. I have been at my job just over 6 years and approximately 4 years ago I purchased my Royce rolling briefcase. The cost was proportionate to the product I received. I wanted a product that was sturdy, that would last, and that was easy to transport from my office to court. I found my Royce briefcase after extensive research and comparison of similar products. I was pleased with my choice the minute I got my bag. The quality of the bag is fantastic, the size of the bag is perfect for big binders, thick files, and my legal books that I bring to and from court with me. I use this bag every day when I am in trial and I use it at least once per week when I am not in trial. After approx. 4 years, the pin to the handle of my briefcase (on the top of my bag) fell out. While this seems like an easy fix, I incorrectly assumed that a small question like that might go unanswered or take a while to be resolved. I was wrong. I emailed the company asking for them to send me a replacement pin so that I could fix my bag. I immediately received a response from the company addressing my concern. The response indicated that they no longer manufactured the pin that my bag required. I expected that they would send me on my way and/or refer me to someone else to look for this pin, which would have been frustrating. Instead, they notified me that they would send me a new bag, which turned out to be a wonderful upgraded leather bag, and they shipped it out immediately so that I would have it for my trial the following week. I never expected to receive a new bag from a request for a replacement pin. However, it became apparent that if Royce could not fix the bag they were willing to replace it. When my bag arrived, I could see that it was made from the same beautiful craftsmanship as my other bag and it offered even more space than my last bag. My bag even came with a personalized note thanking me for my loyalty to their products. I recently bought the Royce Pilot/Catalog Computer Case as a Christmas gift for a family member. The quality of the rolling case, basically a mobile office, is terrific and made my brother-in-law very happy -- he's a sportswriter who is constantly traveling around the state, hauling laptops, phones, and papers everywhere he goes. If this gift can impress my brother-in-law, it will impress whomever you're buying for (I'm almost willing to put money on that).

The best part of my experience with Royce, however, was the customer care I received. They're a family-owned company who swiftly and gracefully resolved an issue with my order in a way I'm not accustomed to seeing in large retailers. The product description and pictures on Amazon Marketplace included a separate, removable laptop bag with shoulder strap which fits into the main case. When I presented the gift, which I hadn't opened yet, the separate laptop bag was not inside the case. I left the case with my brother-in-law and emailed the company directly, assuming there was a shipping error, then returned home from my Christmas trip. Someone responded to me immediately and very apologetically explained that they didn't make the separate laptop bag anymore that goes with the case, and that the product description on Amazon had not changed yet due to an error. They offered to immediately ship another laptop bag with leather similar to the case, which would also fit in the case. It was beautiful and arrived a couple of days later.

Their quick response and attentiveness to the issue, combined with the expected high quality of their products, makes me look forward to shopping with them again. Also, I learned a valuable lesson about resolving an issue with a purchase. A smaller family-owned company selling on Amazon Marketplace may need to outsource specific shipping and customer service components to make selling there profitable. When I first sent a message regarding the issue, I sent it through Amazon and received an unsatisfactory response. Later when I contacted Royce directly, I discovered that they had never directly had the opportunity to respond. While we could hope that outsourcing vendors might better represent the company that hires them, it's not a perfect world. The point is that the seller responded swiftly and thoroughly the moment they were aware of the problem.
