I am blown away by my experience at laser and skin! I came here for an excision in regards to a medical concern. First of all shout out to Kevin ( works in office managing phone ) who validated any question I had and got me in touch with the doctor following treatments and procedures with relevant information in the most sensitive way. Dr Bernstein went above and beyond in so many ways. Dr Bernstein called himself to follow up on the recovery. He answered and explained in great detail any questions that came up with such patience . He also asked for pictures to make sure the healing was going smoothly and for me to have the best possible results . I knew following my procedure there may be a scar especially since I was on accutane at the time of the surgery but it was on my back and was for a medical reason so wasn’t going to spend money at this point on laser . I felt like a child in a candy store - Dr Bernstein did laser for me for free following the protocol. I was waiting for a catch but there was none - just a nice guy - I asked him why - he was like cuz I want it to look good and takes me 2 min- he didn’t charge me for the visit - it can cost $500 and he told me to come back he’ll do it for me again. Having experienced both their normal practice and research department, I'd say the research department was a much better experience and the staff were much more professional.

I initially found the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York because I wanted a consultation on issues with my acne and acne scarring. I was referred to the research department as they had a current trial for scarring that I may qualify for. I was able to be seen within the week and be scheduled into the trial within a week after that. All of the staff I interacted with were professional and caring. The fellow, Jennifer Tao, listened to all of my concerns and it felt like they were as invested in my treatment as I was. It was a great experience. They referred me to the website for any new and upcoming trials, but I found the website is not kept up to date.

The experience from the normal practice from the front desk to the treatment left much more to be desired after my experience in their research department. The front desk at the normal practice is curt at best and at times unprofessional. My experience with Roy Seidenberg was very similar. Laser Skin Surgery lists laser scar treatments on their website, but then after paying $400 for a consultation fee with Dr. Bae, she told me that laser treatments are not good for people of color because of the risk of hyperpigmentation. If there's a segment of the population for which this service is not recommended, why not provide this disclaimer BEFORE you book the appointment and charge them a high consultation fee?

Then, I was rushed into purchasing over $1,000 in skin creams that absolutely do NOT work. Just a lazy way to save face and pretend that she is providing solutions. Dr. Bae then referred me to another doctor for a scar excision option, but when I called to book an appointment, I was told by the front desk that my consultation fee could not be applied to this scar excision surgery because it is being performed by a different provider (even though he is a part of the same business).

I reached out to the billing department for clarification and they never responded either. But when I disputed this service with my credit card company, Laser Skin Surgery quickly responded to them to try to justify the charge, but they never reached out to me.
