Gemini Diner — Restaurant in New York

I came in with my husband at 3am. We sat down and ordered a appetizer and was served our Loaded Gemini Fries right away, with gravy. The gravy tasted like apple pie filling. Disgusting. My boyfriend was so hungry he ate it. The whole time a fly was flying around and we kept trying to swap it away. We was waiting and waiting to order our meals. Our waiter was too busy with other tables that came after us and seemed to forgotten us. I had to walk to the manager to get served after 20 minutes, and he sent a regular porter guy and he took our order. I didn’t want anything anymore. So my boyfriend ate his eggs and bacon platter with home fries. Very small amount of home fries. The bacon looked okay but my boyfriend didn’t eat all of it and HE LOVES BACON! Small amount of home fries and looked terrible which he didn’t finish, and the eggs looked good to be honest. I was very disappointed with the service is all. At that hour of course you can’t expect much, but you’re still a business that’s open 24hrs. So you should keep your good customer service all day long. Every body else BUT us was attended well. Not sure why. I don’t want o make it a race thing because it wasn’t. I saw them treat a African American couple great right after us. So I’m not sure why we were treated this way. But overall, over priced, mediocre food, bad service, flies and bugs flying around while we ate, disappointed....

I’m apparently breakfast hopping now as this is my second diner in three days, my first being Murray Hill Diner on 33rd. It’s nice getting to see the differences between diners. What I really like about this particular one, is that they serve their entire menu all day. At the previous place, my choices were limited to just breakfast and when you come off of Night Shift, sometimes you don’t feel like eating breakfast foods. You want an actual meal. The service was very fast, which seems to be signature of these kinds of establishments. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and water was made available as soon as I sat down as well as a menu. I like that attention is paid to customers when they come in and you don’t have to wait to be acknowledged or served. The staff was friendly and courteous and I didn’t have to wait long for my order to come out. The price of my food was ok. I had a fruit salad and an avocado bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich. Gemini Dinner in Murray Hill is the REAL DEAL. Classic 24 hour Diner at its best. Traditional and well prepared food with fresh ingredients, and spot on service with an attentive waiter who is there for you - without being too much so. Shout out to Jimmy who took my highly edited order without any issue, answered all my questions…. yes the fruit is cut fresh, the spinach in my omelette is as fresh, preparing the omelette on the softer side, and a well done baked potato. The homemade brownie with a single scoop of vanilla ice-cream with mint tea capped it all off. Never a rush, and the central casting diners sitting alongside me. A couple of young doctors discussing some neuro-surgery, some off-duty broadway actors just off a show, maybe some late night club revelers and a couple on a first date.
