I went to Nami a few years ago. 2021 to be exact. She an excellent colorist. But the shops policies regarding cancellations is egregiously ridiculous. 24 hour cancellation fee. I get 12 hours but 24 ? What if you wake up sick at 8a and have an appointment that day ? This is what happened to me back in 2021. Woke up with Covid. The city still has a mask mandate then. I had to cancel to protect others and heal.

I stopped going to them bc they didn't allow dogs. And my dog has separation anxiety in which she'd howl and bark. So , I found a place that allowed dogs as long as the clients didn't mind. My dog , Bonnie , is wonderful around ppl and just lays on the floor by my feet no matter where I take her.

Anyways, I decided to give them another shot as my goto is away. I saw Rui twice. He's good. But I want to go darker. The same as Nami did years ago. Nami wasn't available those days so I figured I'd stick with Rui. Rui declined to do my color. It's not his specialty. But Nami was there. This is where it gets weird. Rui kept asking me why I didn't go back to Nami. I said bc she wasn't available the days I am. For some reason I had to explain about my dogs anxiety issue and that she cries. "Cries ?" He asked with disbelief. Umm so I had to imitate my dogs howls lol. He then said Nami is here and maybe you can make an appointment with her. Ok. Then the owner came over and said I can see Nami but I would need to pay the cancellation fee from 3 YEARS AGO. I asked how much it was 200. I walked out.

TLDR : don't go here if you want to be treated poorly and deal with strange ppl. And if you do , you better do everything in your power and pray you don't get sick or need to cancel bc they would NOT forget and have no compassion on why you would...

Laurel Bowery is the Best Japanese / Asian Hair Salon in NYC! Finding a hair salon in the States for Asian straight hair has always been a struggle for me. So, it was incredibly hard to find a good salon that understood Korean hair. A friend recommended Laurel Bowery for a haircut, and even though I traveled to NYC from NJ, it was absolutely worth it!

I got a long layered haircut with face framing by Coco. She's an expert Japanese hair stylist with 10+ years of experience in Tokyo, so she truly understands Asian hair. I showed her several layered-hair cut pictures for reference, and she ended up creating a look that beat all of them! She was also so nice and friendly, constantly checking the length and style throughout the session. Plus, she shared tons of tips for styling my layered hair with a blow dryer and irons, which has been incredibly helpful.

I absolutely love the results and will definitely be back for my next hair day! If you're looking for sophisticated hair styles at reasonable prices, Laurel Bowery is the best hair salon in Manhattan with the best hair stylist you're looking for. I 10000% recommend it! I originally came to this place on a pulsd deal. Rui did such an amazing job with my cut and full head of balayage highlights which lasted a whole year that I was willing to return and pay the much higher price tag than my usual salon for another cut and color.
