I found this salon online as I was in search of a highly reviewed salon local to my place of work. I had 2 days before vacation and all I needed was a simple single-color process and a trim. I also saw online that they offered organic color which I was highly interested in, I got an appt quickly and thought this is perfect… However, I was surely mistaken.
During my FIRST visit, everything seemed to be going fine. Together George and I chose a medium brown color as I have Jet black hair and agreed that it is typically hard to lighten dark hair so it would be fine. I clearly expressed that I was going for a dark brown and did not want my hair to be too light. He mentioned something about the color spectrum/how black hair takes color and ensured me it wouldn’t be light or red. All was well until he started to blow dry my hair and I took a closer look. Right there and then I told him it looked reddish and he assured me that it wasn’t and that it looked good. As soon as I stepped out into the sun, it was clear, my hair was in fact an auburn color. Being that I had other appts, I continued my day.
So the next morning, I called first thing and spoke to George who said he can get me in at any time and correct it in 15-20mins. Perfect again? NO. I go in a SECOND time and tell him to please darken/even out the color (my roots were a reddish brown and an uneven brown throughout the length). He mixes it up (not even sure if he even used organic color), places the color only on my roots, I sit for a few minutes and get my hair washed HOWEVER the roots are STILL obviously a different color than the rest of my hair. At this point, I’m well over 45mins into my 1hr lunch break, hungry and flustered – I obliged and asked him to dye my hair (for the THIRD time) black again. He then places the color only on my roots and not my whole head (never corrected the overall color which I originally paid for).
Before leaving I stopped by the owner, who at the time was with a client. Not wanting to pull her away I simply told her I wanted to speak to her about the service I received and that I could wait a little to talk quickly or she could call/email me later. However, she just scowled at me and told me “You need to talk to him about that” and turned her back.
When I spoke to George to voice my concerns re: the quality of service I received he immediately insinuated that I was trying to receive free services. First of all, let’s be clear that I usually go to the Ouidad Salon and easily pay $500+ for cut, color, and tip. I have NO problem paying for QUALITY services however I felt that I should have been discounted and/or at least met with a compromise for the time and inconvenience caused because of poor service. Honestly, I would have been more than happy to compromise however all I was met with was attitude and a lecture about “how things work”/accusations of trying to get over on him.
Overall, I’m shocked to say that I’ve never been so happy to see my jet-black hair again. I’m also appalled as I am a very polite/courteous person /rarely complain and I was met with such disgust and poor customer service when trying to express the stress/inconvenience my experience caused. Being that BOTH the stylist and manager failed to hear me out and showed complete disrespect to not only my time but also the health of my hair – that alone should warrant caution to all future customers. Regardless of your hair type, age, or ethnicity I would never recommend this...
Read moreVery friendly service but very poor judgement on hair. I was growing my hair out and I was told no fall out going back to blonde and sadly I left the salon with my first visit with many hair loss. My bangs which were down to my chin were now above my eyebrows. I couldn’t style my hair for weeks my hair was extremely damage but was still instructed to come in two weeks before my roots grew in. I felt very ugly after my hair appointment here both visits. I ended up treating my hair after that and restored my hair myself and bleached it and added extensions myself and my hair looks better than ever. Yes my permission was given to cut my hair but that’s not the situation I speak on with my bangs as the example. After the first treatment in which my stylist stripped my hair, my hair was EXTREMELY broken. A good stylist would have told me absolutely not because of fall of and more damage, instead this salon wanted to take my money and convinced me that there would be no fall out AFTER looking at the damage in my hair... I only received a free treatment since this was brought up ONLY because I promoted the salon on my social media for FREE. I was not told to come back for treatments, I was told to come back to keep doing my roots. Can anyone explain to me why I did the job myself and had ZERO fall out but spent $600 to have my hair damaged by this salon with their poor judgment. Correct I should’ve spoke out the first time but my stylist as convincing as he was told me my second visit would be better and I would achieve the blonde I was going for. Instead I received the complete opposite. I do have pictures as well. This is my review to let people know of my experience. I don’t appreciate the owner twisting my words in his reply to this comment and not allowing me to comment back so I am here adding on to my...
Read more"Le Reve" The Dream speaks for it self. It is indeed the most relaxing, beautiful and an upscale salon that I have been a regular client of. David & George are very talented, professional and very dedicated to their clients. They're investing their heart and much effort to make each client feel special and look fabulous. The interior design is so elegant and cozy that it made me feel part of their family. Wine, coffee or tea is always offered. No days are bad days in "Le Reve" the staff is very friendly and always happy, therefore transforming that "happy" vibe to their clients. Most of all I love the fact that they use Organic Hair Products, given that I have damaged hair and coloring frequently with chemical products would damage it more. My hair always looks healthy and vibrant after my monthly visits. David knows what would look best on me, so I trust him for a miracle work with his magic hands. I strongly believe a hair stylist should be given a total freedom to beautify his client. It's a work of art in of it self. When I look in the mirror I love myself more and become very confident as a woman. "Le Reve" has full spa service which I like too. Everything can be done in one place which makes it very convenient. I also love the fact that David works very fast, given that I'm always in a rush. I remember once I went to a hair salon in Queens for highlights I waisted all day there. The service was so slow and unprofessional that I stopped going there. I would definitely recommend "Le Reve" if you want to experience the dream and to look fabulous...
