Learning and Fun Daycare at St. George Academy — Local services in New York

Learning and Fun Daycare has been a wonderful experience for our son and our family. We started there in January 2023 not knowing what to expect as we were returning from almost two years in France. It was also our son’s first experience being taught in English. And we were genuinely impressed with the quality and intimacy of care coupled with the dedication of the caregivers and managing staff. From the beginning, Ros was very engaged in making sure we felt comfortable and the teachers were incredibly gentle and devoted to the kids' wellbeing. We visited a number of daycares in Manhattan which we found underwhelming. This is not the case with Learning and Fun - once you get past the fact that the entrance is through a Ukrainian high school, the daycare classrooms themselves are fantastic: well-decorated, with a lot of natural light. And they have their own dedicated outdoor space with a play area, flower/vegetable garden and mini sports field. Every week they would have: specialized coaches come in for soccer and tennis; librarians from the local NY Public Library branch come in for special storytimes; and a musician called Mr. Ray come in for a music class - all of which our son adored. My little one has been going to learning and fun since he turned two. For the past three years, he has been through different classroom with several teachers and he has had such a great time. When he first started he could barely said a word as English was not used at our home, the teachers made the transition as smooth as it possibly could. Every teacher he encountered was kind, patient, and nurturing. The classroom was always welcoming, structured, and inclusive. Plus, this is the only daycare I'm aware of that has required dedicated indoor shoes, even before the pandemic! A deal breaker for me 😂 The management team has been evolving and trying their best to communicate and work with the parents. During covid, they provided online learning modules during the lockdown and made their best effort to reopen as soon as they can. It has meant so much for the little one to have social interaction with other kids. Learning and Fun has been the first "society" in my little one's life and will always hold a special place in our family. I recommend it to any parents looking for quality early...

I have been incredibly impressed with this school since my son started attending a year ago. The teachers are truly dedicated, excellent communicators, and show a lot of love and care towards the students. The nurturing environment they provide has been exceptional. The Jungle room (2s class) teachers have been instrumental in my son's development, and it's amazing to see how much he has grown under their guidance.

The outdoor space, while not new, is still fantastic and provides a great area for the children to play and explore. I appreciate the school's effort in maintaining it well.

I must mention that the school administrator could use more support as they seem stretched a little thin. However, despite this, I have not experienced any major issues or concerns.

Moreover, my son has learned valuable habits like making his bed, dressing himself, and cleaning up after his toys, thanks to the teachers. They even successfully potty trained him!
