Madewell — Local services in New York

Adrienne, who I believe is the store manager, is the BEST. I ran in yesterday after a pair of jeans that I LOVE were already starting to wear down and rip after less than a year. I wanted to see if Madewell had some kind of trade in policy so I could get a new pair at a discount, fully anticipating having to throw down some cash. Adrienne was super friendly and helpful, literally grabbing a brand new pair off the shelf, telling me to change into them and saying she'd replace the old pair free of charge. While this may just be Madewell's policy which I was unaware of, she made this process super easy and made me feel like she was looking out for my best interest and happiness. She also gave me tips on how to preserve my jeans to ensure that they'd last longer moving forward. It's managers like this that keep customers happy and coming back. The customer service here is trash. One of the women on the floor stared me down the entire time while I was looking at jewelry. She didn’t offer to help but instead moved closer to get a good look at the items in my hand. Mind you there were other customers in store who did not receive the same treatment. The cashier tried to make up for the blatant disrespect by talking me up about a Madewell purse I had received as a gift the year prior but I could barely contain my contempt. The clothes are very nice but I asked the size of a dress in the window (it was their last piece), without giving my preferred size, and the clerk said “XXS… sorry”. I am not an XXS but I could have shopped for someone else or even tried it on to see the shape, as their dresses waist is flexible. The snap judgment made me feel terrible.
