El Vez and Burrito Bar — Restaurant in New York

We came in as a party of five, including kids, and were hopeful for a nice dining experience. We ordered appetizers and the kids meal with the expectation that the appetizers would come out first, followed shortly by the child’s food, and then the main entrées. This was all at the suggestion of our waitress given we usually order all the main a tress at once. Unfortunately, the timing of the meals was completely off.

The kids’ meal arrived first—before any appetizers—and by the time the appetizers finally came, they nearly finished eating. This led us to assume our main dishes were right behind, but instead we waited so long we were on the verge of asking for the check without even receiving our meals. It wasn’t clear if the delay was due to an issue with how the order was entered (or if it was entered) or a slow kitchen, but what made the situation worse was the lack of communication or acknowledgment from our waitress. She seemed to be avoiding our table altogether, even as we watched other tables who were seated after us receive their full meals promptly.

When I voiced my concerns to the waitress, I pointed out the disjointed timing, the delay with no explanation or apology, and the inattentive service. Unfortunately, the food itself was just okay—not enough to make up for the poor experience. There was this lack of awareness or just did not care. I tipped the customary amount and left.

The waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. She made good recommendations as well, ensuring to keep my taste buds in mind with each food description she gave. The food, WOW! Guacamole was tasteful and creative. It had a sprinkle of Habanero cheese which gave the taste a creative kick. The chips were perfectly salted. My dinner, the Chicken Enchilada had an addicting thick salsa that left me wanting more with each bite I took. It went well with the side rice and beans. The side dish could have used a little more flavor but with all the combination of flavors the main dish had, it was enough to have my taste buds dancing for more. My waitress' shift was ended as we paid the check but to my surprise, another super nice waiter came by to let us know we could take our time and if there was anything we needed while still there to let him know. Made me feel so comfortable. If I wasn't so full I would have ordered a drink! The only downer to this place is that they force the happy hour crowd tl specifically stay in one area. Not sure if it's because they make the drinks different for that section or its crowd control for dinner guests but the fact that happy hour drinks were only served at the bar discouraged me from having any drinks at all. Other than that the place has beautiful decor and is well maintained (pre dinner rush). Definitely my new favorite spot in this area! Will be coming...

This restaurant is not worth your money…

Let me start by telling you I Dine out a lot and know Mexican food.

Food is not that good had to wait to long on my order and when I got it it was burnt charcoal hard 😑 requested to have something else instead ,the entire table was done with dinner and my food was not out. Told the manager I didn’t want it anymore she Offered to pay for my meal told me the chef was aware and handed me my order which was over done asked for a Medium, got it almost well done …💢 a ribeye that was over done and Salty 😤

Asked to have tacos for my kid made with only 2 ingredients a tortilla and protein the manager told me they could not do that because the chef said that they had a menu set and they could not do it because it’s was to much trouble even though in the menu you can add the protein that we Requested to any Appetizer and they have tortillas for TACOS

Not sure if that’s how the FOH management handles every situation by telling guest that the chef this and the chef that , that it’s not good customer service, BOH should just execute orders and accommodate the guest request. I won’t talk about service cause it’ll be too long for you to read.

The restaurant looks so so beautiful outstanding clean and loved The decor I’m sad to say that that’s all it is.
