I have started and stopped writing this review over and over again. I simply cannot find the words to describe how amazing Marisa, Douglas, her staff, and her store have been to us. Our first experience was in July, when we arrived for our appointment to look at engagement rings. Douglas, Marisa, and Nesrine each made us feel right at home and comfortable. Nesrine took plenty of time, showing us each ring and giving honest (and appreciated) feedback about which rings looked best on my hand. Once I had picked out my ring, Nesrine took my fiancé back to finalize the details, and I was left to visit with Marisa. Marisa took time to get to know me-- she was beyond kind and so easy to talk to! Nesrine was very bubbly and encouraging during the entire process! Nesrine kept my fiancé updated via email on the entire process, up until the day the ring was delivered. Fast forward 7 months to February. Now that we are engaged, I was eager to get my ring cleaned and begin looking at wedding bands! We called ahead but were informed it wasn't necessary to make an appointment to have my ring cleaned. When we arrived, they promptly took my ring to clean it. In the meantime, we looked at the wedding bands. Marisa and another sales consultant came over and worked with us for at least 30 minutes! It took no time to pick out my ring (I had already tried the band I wanted on during my engagement ring appointment). They worked closely with my fiancé, helping him find the perfect wedding band, with the perfect shape and color for his size hand and his complexion. Nesrine remembered us, so she came over and visited with us too! My engagement ring is more beautiful than any ring I have ever seen. I now notice everyone's wedding rings, and truly none can compare. The diamond quality is exquisite. The clarity is phenomenal. The band is so thin and delicate. I am beyond impressed with the service, quality, and price of Marisa Perry. We will be using them as our jewelry store for...
Read moreI unfortunately cannot recommend this business. I asked them to recreate an earring made with rare dark sapphires that belonged to my grandmother, and they lost the original earring. After several (very stressful) days of me having to pester Marisa and Nesrine, and the salespeople telling me that the earring was not in fact lost, Marisa agreed to comp my entire order and replace the whole thing using slightly higher quality diamonds. The salespeople at the store handled the entire situation unapologetically (and in the case of two salespeople, who told me repeatedly that my earring was not actually lost, dishonestly).
It was somewhat consoling because she was able to recreate the original product in less than a week (the absolute least they could have done), but when I got the final recreated pair of earrings back, the gold was a totally different color than the matching necklace in set.
I never write bad reviews so I was reluctant to leave this until I realized my earrings aren’t the same as the original set. I trusted the team with a family heirloom and communicated the importance of this piece, and they repeatedly failed to execute upon my request. While I appreciate them recreating the earring they lost using higher quality diamonds, which was more than I asked for, i still feel obliged to warn others of the carelessness that went into the process and the amount of effort I had to exert to ultimately still receive a different work product than we agreed upon.
If she was going to change the color of the gold, she should have consulted with me well in advance. Now my set, which has been passed down through generations in my family, does not match. Not to mention, I’m not convinced that the original “lost” earring was actually lost, now given she wasn’t able to actually match the old pair.
Of all the jewelers in NYC, surely you can definitely find someplace that pays closer attention...
Read moreTransparent. Trustworthy. Caring. Marisa's sweet personality set me at ease while shopping for my engagement ring 2 years ago. I ended up with the ring of my dreams & have not had a single problem with it. My husband & I went to 2 other jewelers before finding Marisa Perry. The other places were so cold, stressful, & made me feel like they were just talking me up to make a sale. It was the complete opposite at Marisa Perry.
I went in there thinking I knew exactly what I wanted & Marisa was so sweet & patient with me as I tried on rings. I loved how honest she was - I was set on a princess cut & she could have easily sold me one, but she cared enough to inform me of the risk you take with having such sharp, delicate corners. I specifically remember her saying a statement with the words, "that sale would be great for me, but, if you were my daughter, I'd tell you to..." I could tell she really meant it. Marisa took the care to really hear me when I described what I wanted & brought the perfect ring to me that I might have missed. I remember her saying, " I have an idea.. let me just try this ring on you.." - she slipped it on my finger & I just cried. It was like a fairytale moment & I knew it was the ring for me.
Marisa went above & beyond to help us out. I remember how hesitant Steven was when I told him I wanted to look at an engagement ring boutique in SoHo, thinking there was no way we could afford something like that on our fresh out of college budgets. Not only did she make a way for my dream ring to fit with his wallet, she went shopping on Long Island for things that she knew we needed for the wedding that she could get for cheaper out there! Our ring shopping experience was just the start of a beautiful friendship that I'm just so thankful for. You'd be silly to not get...
