Tavern on Jane, tucked away in the vibrant West Village, offers a quintessential neighborhood pub experience with a touch of culinary excellence. Among its many highlights, the wings at Tavern on Jane are simply unbeatable, earning it a well-deserved five-star rating.
Ambiance and Decor: The moment you walk into Tavern on Jane, you’re greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The rustic wooden decor, cozy booths, and friendly chatter create a comfortable, laid-back vibe. The dim lighting and classic pub memorabilia adorning the walls add to the charm, making it a perfect spot for a casual night out or a relaxed meal with friends.
Service Experience: The staff at Tavern on Jane exemplifies genuine hospitality. Attentive, friendly, and always ready with a recommendation, they enhance the overall dining experience. Whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor, you’re made to feel right at home.
Food and Drinks: Tavern on Jane’s menu offers a variety of hearty, well-executed dishes, but the true star of the show is the wings. Here’s what I recommend:
Appetizers: Buffalo Wings: These wings are nothing short of spectacular. Perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and coated in a tangy, spicy buffalo sauce that hits all the right notes. Served with a side of creamy blue cheese dressing, they are an absolute must-try. Jane’s Nachos: A generous pile of tortilla chips topped with melted cheese, jalapeños, salsa, and sour cream. Perfect for sharing and a great start to your meal.
Main Courses: Jane Burger: A juicy, flavorful burger served with all the classic toppings and a side of crispy fries. The patty is cooked to perfection and the brioche bun adds a nice touch. Fish and Chips: Golden-brown and crispy battered fish served with a side of thick-cut fries and tangy tartar sauce. A classic pub dish done right.
Desserts: Apple Crisp: Warm, spiced apples with a crumbly topping, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Comforting and delicious. Chocolate Brownie Sundae: Rich, fudgy brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream. An indulgent treat to end your meal.
Drinks: Craft Beer Selection: Tavern on Jane boasts an impressive selection of craft beers on tap, featuring both local brews and international favorites. The rotating selection ensures there’s always something new to try. Cocktails: The pub’s cocktails are well-crafted and perfectly balanced. The Classic Old Fashioned and the refreshing Jane’s Mule are particularly noteworthy.
Overall Impression: Tavern on Jane captures the essence of a great neighborhood pub with its welcoming atmosphere, exceptional service, and standout dishes. The wings alone are worth the visit, but the entire menu offers something for everyone. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty meal, a casual drink, or a place to unwind, Tavern on Jane delivers an experience that is both memorable and satisfying.

Read moreWent on a Sunday, waited at the door for a host/hostess and nobody came to us, meanwhile the servers kept looking at us as they passed. Eventually just sat at the nearest table, just assuming that it was seat yourself, after like 10 min a an older woman with blonde hair comes to us, we asked for menu’s and she scolded us about seating ourselves then goes “it’s fine just stay”, then never brings us a menu. A man comes gives us menus and serves us water in plastic cups something about the dishwasher being broken which was no big deal understandable, until we look around and realized we’re the only ones with plastic cups, already upset we contemplated leaving but it was a busy sunday and we’re hungry so just hoped the food would be satisfying. We placed our order with a woman and the Mozzarella Balls we’re good and came out fast, but this woman never came back to our table, we had to flag down another server for water. Friend orders a spaghetti that was barely sauced, I ordered the raspberry habanero wings that were soggy and entirely too sweet, neither of us finished the food. My other friend ordered the mac & cheese and it was awful, super watery, no cheese, they did not eat it & requested it be taken off the check, after asking the server goes “is it too spicy for you? “ as if she could not see the puddle of noodles in the dish. Again no one came back to our table, we physically had to put our coats on, pretend like we were leaving for someone to come over and ask if we wanted our check, it became a running joke at the table to the point of where we were betting on how long it would take them to come to us. I get being understaffed or just really busy but that was absolutely ridiculous, food was bad and so was service....
Read moreCame to this place after another restaurant nearby only took cash and my group didn't want to waste time finding an ATM. Already Hangry and tired, we came to this place ready to eat. Our order was taken promptly. I ordered the Creekstone burger which was the most expensive one on the menu. The burger included string fries and a side of fried Brussel sprouts. I was really hoping this burger would be everything the menu made it seem to be. Unfortately it was not. The burger tasted like the quality of a 5 Guys burger. There was no flavor. It's really saying something when the best part of my dish was the Brussel sprouts.
In the giving mood my group shared food so I also sampled the Kale, Cranberry, & Walnut salad. It had the makings to be great except for the fact that they chose a lemony vingegarette to top it with. The flavor was just so overpowering you couldn't enjoy anything else in the salad.
The food here is mediocre at best. Given the price ti's definitely not worth it. If I'm ever around the Jane Street area again, I'll remember to bring cash next time and go to the first...
