From reading the other reviews I think this miniso is committing fraud. I went to go purchase my items in the self checkout because they had just opened it. They being a regular employee instead of a manager. I’m ringing up my items and the machine is being weird but somehow a different price than on the screen is showing up on the pin pad, I fully didn’t realize because I was trying to figure out if I was doing something wrong. I use Apple Pay and thank god I did because it tells you the exact time and a lot of info of your purchase. I was charged incorrectly for my items and realized the transaction went through. I then tell the sales associate and she realizes the machine made a mistake and charged a price from a previous transaction. I go up to the actual register and wait on the manager that is no where to be found. I finally get to have a conversation with him about what happened and the employee that helped me explain the situation as well. Somehow he still doesn’t understand what happened and then we have to go over it with him again. He then seems annoyed that he has to deal with in the first place. We go over to the machine and he tries to show me that the transaction doesn’t exist so it should be cancelled and not charged. I try to ask if we can get a receipt of some kind to just in case let my bank know in case it goes through. He refuses because it does not exist in the system. He could have given a receipt from the previous purchase or a phone number or something. I ask him again like for some sort of receipt he cuts me off and yells over me to say it doesn’t exist. He never apologized for the inconvenience this caused me not a single form of apology. I still take a picture of the previous purchase on the screen. Then he tries to reassure me that it will be a canceled transaction. I say okay thanks. He turns around and does not say a word to me and leaves. This was over the weekend. Few days later I realize the transaction went through. I’m not sure how this store is getting away with random transactions disappearing on their end but still going through from my end. This miniso has a machine running still from what I saw from another review that does not work and is stealing people’s money. Shoutout to the employee that actually helped me and could communicate with me professionally. The manager I spoke to should not be running a store when you can not problem solve nor...
Read moreI would give this establishment a negative rating if I could, simply for how rudely I was treated here.
Long story short, my college professor took us on a field trip to Times Square with the intention of us capturing visuals and sounds to accompany them for a short film project. I would like to emphasize that she had even encouraged us to walk into stores and record clips.
So, I walk into this store, not only with the expectation of capturing good footage, but to also buy anything I find interesting. The prices were egregious to say the least. Especially for products that likely cost much little to make in comparison to what you pay for. Mind you, I had a tote bag carrying nothing but the necessary materials I was REQUIRED by my professor to bring. A camera, phone and portable charger. Anything else was a basic necessity, such as a water bottle and wallet.
Unimpressed by the prices, I decide to leave the store. As I’m heading out the door, one of the security guards has the audacity to ask me, “What do you have in your bag, miss?”
Him insinuating that I had stolen something was incredibly insulting. Do tell me, Why the hell would I risk my own future over a generic plush toy or a chunk of plastic?
I AM NOT A THIEF.
Am I not allowed to browse a store to see if anything interests me and leave if the products don’t, without some failed cop with a power trip wrongfully profiling me?
I’m black if anyone’s curious. And so was the security guard.
I felt incredibly ashamed after that, even though I had done nothing wrong.
I will never set foot in this store again.
Edit: After reading several other reviews with similar, unfortunate experiences, I am convinced that individual is genuinely disturbed. How he still has a job...
Read moreThe store is large, bright, cute, and over the top. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but it's something to see if you're stuck in the area.
This Miniso has many cute things, toys, and trinkets. They even sell a couple of snacks and soft drinks. Every inch of real estate is overflowing with products to buy.
There is a lot of everything, to the point its overwhelming (ie: 10 versions of characters on identical hairbrushes; 7 cup styles for 1 character; the same toothbrush in various colors. I was excited to explore the store until it became anxiety-inducing.
The lines are long, most items do not have a price labeled and there are very few signs with prices. There are also no price scanners, so you basically have to haul everything you liked to the register even if you didn't want to spend $14 on cotton swabs. There are even long lines for self-checkout.
:: PARENTS :: -- please note, most aisles are stocked from the floor up, meaning that products are at eye-level and within reach for all children. Even a toddler can reach out to grab things they want. Please keep an eye on them and discuss purchases ahead of time. Otherwise you might easily spend $2,000 at the register. The tiny objects add up $$ (kind of like at Target).
The signs with prices are nondescript and placed in areas where it is not 100% clear which item costs that amount. Some people were surprised at the register to discover some items were much pricier than the $6.99 sign above/next to it.
I went later in the evening (around 9 pm) so the store was full, but not packed. It is probably filled to capacity with visitors during peak day. Expect to spend over an hour here, and enjoy the photo opportunities with Hello...
