MONTEMAN BARBER — Local services in New York

I am new to the area and was looking for a new barber. Given the good reviews about this place and Evan, I decided to go. The person answering the phone and doing the scheduling was extremely nice. When I finally went to cut my hair, I explained what I wanted to Evan, but he barely paid attention to what I said, I assumed since he was an expert, he had already understood what I wanted, but his lack of attention when I explained what I wanted bothered me since he was giving me this "I know it all, cocky" attitude. As he was cutting my hair, he was lecturing me on how all barbers, specially the one who had cut my hair prior, knew nothing about cutting hair. He continued throughout the entire cut. When he finished, he continued bragging asking me "....so are all the perfect reviews true or what?" by then I had realized that he had completely mess up my hair. I got so upset that all I did was pay and leave. Extremely disappointed about this place and specially by the barber's "know it all, I am doing you a favor" kind of attitude. the worst part is that after all that bragging, all I got was the worst haircut I have...

I came to Evan unsure of what I wanted my look to be and let me assure you he is truly a master of his craft. We discussed the ins and outs of my head shape, what I usually got for cuts in the last, etc. He knew exactly what to do to make me look 1000% times better than what I looked coming in.

I have recommended Evan and company to several of my best friends, and rightfully so every single one has told me it was the best haircut they have received in their life.

Now, while the quality cut is already reason enough to schedule, I cannot praise the business and administrative side of Monteman enough. Extremely professional, and uncanny attention to detail in all aspects. They call an hour prior to your cut, offer drinks, hang up your coat etc etc.

I've been going to Monteman Barber for the last year. It's hands down the best barbershop that I've ever been to! The shop is clean, minimalist, and overall a very relaxing and comfortable space to be in. Evan did a great job designing the shop!

Not only is the shop itself very nice, but the haircuts and beard trims are next level. I've gotten many great haircuts throughout the years, but Monteman kicks it up a notch because they truly give you a haircut specific to you, your hair, the shape of your face, etc. After your first haircut there, you'll begin to realize these guys are experts when it comes to cutting hair. The beard trims are no different. They spend just as much time on your beard as they do your hair. I always leave the barbershop feeling and looking my best!
