Kim was my stylist , I'm a completely natural curly girl. I’m sort of iffy about going to salon’s because a lot of stylist claim they can do natural curly hair that’s on the tighter side , rather than loose , and they can’t. I got half of my hair colored so I guess an ombrĆ© Or balayage effect, the lower half , and a trim. Kim was friendly, upfront and transparent, and realistic, her consultation was going over hair history, what we wanted to achieve, pricing (very transparent, no surprises, or add ons without letting you know beforehand.) she was able to color my hair (a burgundy hue that in my opinion is out of this world totally different From the rest in a good way I’ve never had a burgundy hue like this one and it’s perfect!) without over-processing . My curls are still intact no damage , and I will be going back to her. This was a great experience especially if you need good a self care session and wanting to make a change that will be positive to your hair and wellbeing. Kim was genuine, and positive, and honest . The experience was one i described as a team effort meaning Kim listened not push , or let ego get involved, and I worked with her by taking her advice, and she listened to me as well. Thanks Kim see you in six months for another trim , and...

Kim is the best! I went to the Brewster NY salon for my first cut with her and it was a big one—over 7 inches off! I have a LOT of thinner hair with 2b-ish waves/curls. We spent about an hour together, and she styled my hair beautifully. But after a week, I felt like my hair was sitting heavier and a bit odd on my shoulders. I reached out to Kim, and she was super sweet about it, suggesting we tweak a few things.

On my second visit, we ended up cutting even more hair off to have it stop around my shoulders and added layers to lighten my curls. It was basically another full cut, and I was happy to pay for it because I left with the hair of my dreams. Kim spent about an hour and a half with me this time, making sure I was really happy with the choices since I was more indecisive on my first round. I left with hair feeling so beautiful and the perfect length!

She's the best!! I can't recommend her enough. She takes the time to listen to what you want, what feels good, and offers solid advice for curly hair based on her experience. Curly hair is a journey, and I'm always learning new ways to protect, take care of, and style my hair exactly how I want (which has been a...

I am not someone who ever leaves reviews but I feel wronged to the point here where I think it’s the just thing to do so that this type of service doesn’t happen to someone else... I had a really bad experience at this place at the time of my appointment, and in trying to follow up with Roots Radical to discuss it afterwards. I came in for a simple blow out and curl before a wedding I had to attend.

I was on a tight time schedule but they assured me it would only take 30-45 minutes for the whole blow out and styling service so that left me with enough time. My stylist was over 10 minutes late. When he arrived he was legitimately stoned. He took over an hour to blow dry my hair (not thick hair, just being high) and didn’t have time to curl it. I had to run home in tears and curl my hair quickly before this event.

I tried to follow up with Roots Radical by email to try to get my money back after feeling devalued by having a service by someone intoxicated who wasn’t respecting my time and by simply having a horrible hair ā€œstyleā€ outcome. But they never responded to my multiple emails.

Overall bad experience and feel even more devalued by their lack...

I have super thick hair (that it usually takes other hairdressers 2 hours to cut dry) and I have been going to Roots radical salon since it opened. This place is the ONLY place I can cut my hair.. I’ve had only the owner cut my hair because I thought she was the only 1 I can trust with my impossible thick hair. She’s totally knows her stuff and has helped me understand my hair as well. But now I love having Harix cut my hair. He totally knows what he’s doing and I leave super happy and feeling AMAZING!!!! They give me great tips to keep my hair looking fantastic and the atmosphere there is incredible and very welcoming. The music always is great and the conversation there have me laughing the enter time. . This place is by far the BEST hair salon in this area HANDS down. Here’s a before and after..

Amazing experience! I recently "discovered" that my hair is naturally curly, so I wanted to visit a salon specializing in curls. Roots Radicals Salon seemed like the perfect place—and it did not disappoint. I was looking for a big change (I wanted to go short) and was nervous about it, since I’ve had long hair for over 20 years and was always scared of putting it in the wrong hands. Harix was an absolute angel! He cut my hair dry, listened to all my concerns, and made me feel completely comfortable. As a newbie to curly hair care, he also shared tons of tips on styling and avoiding frizz. It's been a few days since my cut, and my hair still looks fabulous. This new look has given me such a confidence boost. Thank you!

I booked a root touch up service to cover up my gray hair (charged as a single process). The hairstylist did not mention about an additional charge for the glaze. First time ever dyeing my hair. They colored my hair very dark (black almost). The stylist swore that was my natural color. Now I have to wait for it to come off. The blowdry at the end was done like she was on a rush and did not have time to finish up properly. I ended up using an iron at their place to fix it. Not only was the color not accurate, but the amount of dye I had to wash off from my ears and front was excessive. Do not go there for dyeing your hair, instead go with some color specialist. I paid to get my hair ruined. Will not be coming back.
