Nemo Tile & Stone — Local services in New York

Nemo Tile is a bit of an enigma. When you walk in and see the all the high end tile on the walls for sale you'll probably think Restoration Hardware, which is understandable, but they are so much more. Nemo's roots are tied to building contractors, so in essence they are really a supply house that happens to have an awesome showroom right off Park Ave in NYC. I had a BIG problem with a paid order that stock was not available when the pick-up was scheduled. A tough dilemma for me as a customer, but Gary Beltre, the manager of the 21st St location bent himself into a pretzel to make things right for me. He worked hard to: a) make my wife happy w/ a new tile that was stocked b) make the price work for us c) moved quick enough to keep our contractor's schedule from getting screwed. Just called the store and asked if they could tell me if an item was in stock. Employee says, “depends on what item it is” with the nastiest of attitudes. I decide that I will clarify in case she didn’t understand the question. I stated, “wanted to know if you could tell if an item was in stock or if there was another way for me to check.” She again says “depends on what item it is” with an even nastier attitude. Shopping for bathroom tiles is definitely a daunting task for anyone who is not an interior designer.

Our sales associate Dan was most helpful, walking us through what we need to think about and making sketches to help us visualize the various combinations and options for the wall, shower and floor tiles, pulling up samples of the tiles we liked so that we could have an up close look and feel.

We left feeling good about our choices with samples to take home to review.
