TL; DR: I experienced poor transparency on prices for services, as well as faced complicated back-end operations that make disputing bills complex and time-consuming. The day-to-day individuals working at the clinic in person were nice and efficient, but that's not enough to make up for deceptive operations. I will not be returning to NorthWell.
Longer version: I went in to receive a test and was told by the provider that insurance would cover costs and I would have no (or minimal) costs for this particular set of tests. I trusted that point of view and proceeded because of that recommendation. To the surprise of me and the provider, the tests came back negative, so I was encouraged to re-submit these tests for a second round to ensure it was not a false-negative. Again, I was told that the tests would be covered and based on my understanding of my insurance's coverage, I agreed with that assessment.
However, to my surprise, about a month later I received a large bill ($800) and when I called the billing department to clarify, they pointed out that this bill was from the laboratory department, and I had a separate bill of $200 that would be arriving from the clinic (!). I went in person to the urgent care facility to clarify what was happening. I was told that I will have to independently negotiate with these two separate billing departments over the bills and that no one in the office could assist. The billing representatives from one of the departments is blaming my insurance for the error, but the reality is that my insurance is just going off of the notes the Northwell provider. When I asked to speak directly with the provider I had worked with to understand their point of view, as well as the notes they had submitted for my visits, I was told that I would need to go through the billing office. How am I supposed to advocate for myself successfully when a key piece of evidence in this situation is being kept from me??
Anyways, I will not be returning to this urgent care for future services. The back-end operations are frustrating to work with, no one is receptive to conversation and reason, and I can't trust what they say in terms of...
Read moreI came in to Northwell gohealth for throat issues. I reported to Megan Greger what I was feeling and how difficult the pain was that it was hard to eat, sleep or drink water. I have had this issue before so I told her what I had. She IGNORED what I said and belittled it to a sore throat. I even asked her again when she said she doesn't see anything- "You don't see anything"?! to which she replied no. She said not every sore throat is what I had before. She belittled my symptoms to nothing and I already knew she was wrong because I can feel the large swelling to which she apparently could not see. A child could see that I had swelling so I was so upset. She wasted my time and money for the visit. She told me to wait until I was drooling when I asked her what to do when it gets worse as she refused to treat me accordingly. That is so inappropriate. If I wait for my issue to get worse, it could be life threatening. I am not sure why she wasted my time nor could not see. She needs glasses. She wrote the address to an ENT on a napkin!! and sent me off. She did not document swelling. That ENT did not take walkins like she said. The next day she caused me to call out of work again as she did not treat me and it got much worse and I was drooling like she so badly hoped for. She caused me to take more time and money out after feeling more pain to get the care I actually needed somewhere else where they clearly saw what I had and gave me my medication in minutes. She was very dismissive and thought I was being paranoid. I have pictures right after she saw me to show that it is VERY evident what I had. I'm not understanding why I had to go to two different urgent cares in two days because the first one did not do her job. I almost feel like race has a play because again it was very obvious I had swelling and she did not care. This is why America's healthcare is so bad. What is the point of even...
Read morePhysician assistant, Megan Gregor review update today 1 star
I had a terrible experience today at urgent care with physician assistant, Megan, Greger, and I see there are other bad reviews for her. I had a stinging sore throat congestion in my chest, my voice was affected, and I told her straight out that I thought I needed an antibiotic. She didn’t give me that sorrow and exam didn’t really look closely at my throat and said my chest was clear. She prescribed some over-the-counter medicines to cover up the effects, but not help get rid of the problem. Went home and slept for two hours and woke up coughing afraid I couldn’t stop. Now I was coughing up deep, yellow mucus, and I went back and showed the receptionist. She consulted with Megan Gregor and she wanted me to wait around for an hour to get a chest x-ray before they would consider giving me an antibiotic. I felt too sick to wait around and now I’m gonna have to go to another Urgent care tomorrow. I forgot to mention when I went in I told him I knew it wasn’t Covid because I tested myself But they insisted on giving me a Covid test anyway. My impression of this place has changed and I’m utterly disgusted.
Xxxxxx dr Edward Loscalzo 5 stars I had a fall in the street and twisted my ankle. I was afraid it was a broken bone. I went to the 81 st location. They took me right away, took my vitals, and then an x-ray which did show a broken bone. The doctor gave me a very good splint ( like a removable cast) and crutches. They gave me a CD of the x-ray and a copy of the report. I was very satisfied and happy I didn't have to go to the emergency room and wait 5 hours.
July 23,2023 I went back for something else and actually saw the same doctor. This is the review I left for them: I was very pleased with Sabira the nurse who took care of me for the preliminary exam and then again with Dr. Loscalzo. Both are professional...
