I am very fussy about the cleanliness of restaurants and salons that I frequent. For instance, if I go to an establishment that is top notch but does not have a clean restroom I will never return as lack of care there tells me that most likely management is not attentive to other details. That being said ,my visit to Oon Arvelo today exceeded all expectations; the warm greeting as I entered, the escort to the changing room, the superb hair cut ( Elvin is a genus) made for a ten star rating. The final test was the bathroom… would they be able to keep all the stars I had mentally awarded them? Happily for this germaphobe neatnick, the restroom’s level of cleanliness exceeded standards set for a hospital operating room ; the fixtures and walls were gleaming, the terry hand towels were neatly and artistically arranged and the scented diffuser provided just the right amount of fragrance. Peter Oon for color + Elvin Arvelo for styling have created an oasis of calm and perfection. They never disappoint. Color is done without drama and a keen eye for the differences that make a good color supremely great. Peter does a few things that make the color LAST without a brassy fade - unlike many of the top salons I have visited ( you know the ones - three weeks later and the color is just over.) Elvin's cuts are done with an artisan's hands. The entire salon works - and the team from start to finish makes you feel tended to as a valued client. Color and cuts in NYC are not inexpensive - but their pricing is rational. Best of all - you walk out saying YES! This is exactly what I hoped for - and you feel great about yourself. I have bought into the hype of the largest salons NYC over the years - and spent alot trying to get these results.
