Read moreCame in about 9am to get out of the rain while waiting to enter a museum. First, they had insufficient change of a 50, and complained about having to give it. I asked for an English breakfast tea, and 'eventually' received an Earl Grey which was then exchanged for a rotten tasting coffee - like something you'd get in a cheap hotel - watery and burnt. I also paid about 7 dollars for a really meagre wrap - easily the worst thing I'd eaten in NYC for the price and more like something I'd expect to be handed in a school canteen or aboard a cheap flight. And I still tipped them so they at least had some change. A dirty coffee cup was not collected from my table from the previous customer who appeared to have tasted it and walked out. The decor is very spartan, unimaginative, and not at all cafe-cosy. Try some plants and a few secondhand bits of furniture? Perhaps advertise in a local art school offering some young artists the chance to exhibit their work on the plain white walls? It doesn't take much and would perhaps help cover the stains and dusty skirting boards that look like they've never been cleaned before. That artist could potentially sell work from the cafe and the cafe could take a cut. Business sense! Instead, what you do get are a few tiny little pieces of art that would barely cover an A1 sheet, if at all, giving you the impression that the owner is just cheap and with no business sense at all. 500 dollars on some decor and a better menu could turn the...
Read moreI donât really like to write bad reviews but I had a very bad experience in this coffee shop today. I came in with my two dogs to grab a cappuccino (to take a away) and the cashier was very rude, with a bad attitude. She didnât respond back my greeting but also told me that next time I cannot come in with the dogs which I think is completely fine if it is displayed on the door (I checked in the door after leaving and there is not any sign) I asked her to indicate me where was it said and she showed me a little display on the counter with very small letters which I could not read from the entry. Then she asked me to move over the left side of the shop with a very disrespectful manner. I took my coffee and I left with a very bitter taste in my mouth. I think what everyone expect from a coffee shop is kind and friendly staff and a nice experience. My recommendation is to display a bigger NO PETS sign or admit them if you do not want to loose clients. This is the upper west side, most people own dogs. Also make sure to own a happy customer...
