I've spent most of my life exercising, picking up trainers and cycling through fad diets my entire life. In June, I was really tired of beating myself up and going through the "I FEEL horrible, I'm always tired, so I'll eat everything and then need to go to an Orange Theory workout the next day because I ate so much the day before" thought cycle. It was getting exhausting, I was always tired/fatigued, and I kind of hated myself, so I went in search of a personal trainer. I knew that my negative cycle thinking wasn't healthy, and I was needed someone who had a good background in nutrition to help me rethink my relationship with food and exercise.
I reached out to Kenny after searching through a few trainers. Some trainers weren't very responsive, while others charge monthly rates for "unlimited access," and some places told me they didn't track your progress through numbers, but through photos. Being analytical myself, I needed the numbers. I wanted the guardrails. Ken's website spoke to all of that, so I booked a consult.
My first meeting with Kenny immediately gave me confidence. We spent an hour talking through my history with diet and exercise, what my goals were, and then he did a movement test with me, which no other trainer has ever done. This showed me he was interested in my safety, and within a day, he built me a program. He gave me caloric and protein numbers to hit, and he reviews it every time we meet, which again, speaks to accountability. We started with 3 days a week of strength training, 2 of which were with him and 1 on my own. Having my personalized program on a google spreadsheet was EVERYTHING, because that enabled me to walk into any gym, crank out a thoughtfully crafted workout, and continue to progress towards my goal, whether he was physically there or not. This is the biggest difference between Kenny and the last 4-5 trainers I've had: a personally tailored PROGRAM, made for you to get the RESULTS you asked for.
Kenny's training method is amazing because he focuses on all the important things: how you FEEL, how you feel about the way your body is changing, how much strength you're gaining, etc. He makes me feel like I can be completely honest with him in both the fitness portion and the nutrition portion. Early on, I told him I hated the scale, so for the last 2-3 months, he has weighed me in and kept track of my results silently. This has been a JOY, because it helps me focus on the important things without pysching myself out about my weight. In 2.5 months, he told me I'm down 6 pounds and I FEEL way more confident and energetic than I felt after 5 months with Orange Theory (a time in which I actually gained 5-10 pounds, while working out 4-5 days a week, but eating everything).
At the end of the day, Kenny was exactly who I needed in my life to help me unlearn all the bad diet information I've internalized. I kept thinking that if i didn't start today, when I look back in 3 months, I would have wished I did. I WAS RIGHT, and I'm SO GLAD I started with Kenny when I did. While I'm still a work in progress, I am more aware my daily caloric/protein needs. I am less concerned with having to workout every day to counter balance my bad nutrution habits. I am stronger, I FEEL so much better, and I'm way happier because I'm not mentally beating myself up, so BIG thanks to the Ken Method!

Read moreKenny Guzman can only be described as one thing, committed to his craft. I was never a fan of truly working out, and at some points you can say I’m still not, but I do like the results. I started with Kenny in the beginning of the summer knowing that I needed to change my body for my health. I was gaining weight which was making life difficult as my clothes started to get tighter, and I felt sluggish. Kenny took his time with me 3-4 times a week and allowed me to go at my own pace with the occasional increase in intensity so I actually lost weight. What I liked about getting trained with Kenny is that he put my health into perspective. He allowed me to see how important it is to actually work the full body out instead of only doing push-ups and what kind of foods I should be eating to maximize my weight loss. Every day with Kenny wasn’t a waste because of the weight loss I’ve experienced now. What I know is that if you want to work, then Kenny will study your body so that he can get you where you want to be. He’s encouraging and doesn’t allow the pain of working out to hold me back as he’s very engaging through the process. I’ve been with him for about 8 months and I’m glad that I made not only the choice to train with Kenny, but I made the choice to put my health first. Kenny is worth the time and money because I know that when you decide to choose him, he won’t make you regret it. He truly cares about me and his other clients. I was not necessarily" ready" to "sign up" but my conversation with Kenny was truly a game-changer. There was no hard sell but he calmly listened and heard my concerns on many levels with so much sensitivity as well as understood how I felt about working out with a trainer and what I hoped to accomplish., Initially I came in just for an "assessment" and my "assessment" was with Rondel.I was so impressed by Rondel[s knowledge and focus,and on what my body was needing in order to get stronger and more balanced. Rondel made this process actually enjoyable as well as challenging.
