The office is clean, bright and inviting. My problem was the cell phone use by the staff, and lack of communication.
The front desk reception was great. She really was. I was running 10 minutes late and called the main number to pass the message along to the 125th St location. When I arrived there were a few forms to fill out and I emailed my referral and id to their email address. So I arrived at 5:10 for a 5pm appointment and was ready by 5:38 to be seen. I asked reception if there would be a delay since it was 5:38 and I saw a few other clients come in. She said "no." I wait 10 minutes and ask reception again when I will be seen. I can see she's on her phone. She gets up, walks to the back and tells my PT I'm ready. Why didn't she get up 10 minutes ago? 10 more minutes pass and the PT comes out - LOOKING AT HER PHONE. OK, maybe she was looking at something really important and work related.
She spends a few minutes behind the counter with reception and takes me back to a room. Then she disappears for a few minutes more. Comes back and tells me to pull up the bottom of my pants to expose my knee. I say the leggings I have on can't be pulled up that far. Then she says, "Takes your pants off" and hands me a small towel to cover my lap. I say "I'm not taking my pants off and putting a towel in my lap." Then she says' "OK, I'll give you shorts."
At this point I'm just disgusted. I understand staff is probably told not to be on their phones in the front area where there are clients, but nearly 30 minutes went by and not once did my PT pop her head out from the back room where presumably she was on her phone to see if I was ready. Reception - same deal - too busy on her phone to get up, walk back and tell the PT I was ready. Then the PT literally thought I was going to receive treatment in my underwear?? Not once did she explain the treatment she was going to do. Other PT places have me ride the bike and do leg lifts. None of which require me to remove my pants.
Look, I understand when it's slow at work being on your phone kills time. But staff should be aware when they have customers. Needles to say they will have more time to spend on their phones, because I will not...
Read moreI didn't really believe that PT would help my issue. Car accident, torn lateral meniscus. A friend recommended the place to me. I initially thought 125th Street, Medicaid Mill, Ugh. But on my first visit, I was impressed by the place– light, bright and airy. The receptionist, Raven, has a wonderful disposition while also being professional. She always greets you with a smile and has a pot of coffee on. No grouchy receptionist on her cell phone making you think you're bothering her here. No Sir! Then there's Selma the Physical Therapist who is as knowledgeable as she has good hands. She patiently explained my issues, and the exercises I needed to feel a lot better, again, with a pleasant disposition, quickly remembering my name. My review wouldn't be complete without praising Sam, "the executor" (I call him). Again, friendly and knowledgeable, he works my leg to execute the various exercises. He is patient and kind and makes no judgments, only assists me to do my best. Overall, I am never made to wait around. I get taken in at my appointment time and never feel as though they are rushing me out for the next patient. When it's over, Raven checks me out with a smile, and always says, "Have a nice weekend "at the end of the week. It feels like family. Oh, and the upshot is that the massages, exercises, and other modalities...
