10/10 experience with Geraldine! This was my second time having her do my hair and it was one of the most pleasant and fun braiding experiences I have ever had!

Geraldine is a heroine! She sticks to the time she sets with customers and is swiftly able to tackle complex styles. Love how she had me set an appointment and she was there an hour early ready with the hair, a clean space, and a good attitude.

I booked with Geraldine African Hairbraiding NYC because I had an important dinner that same night and wanted my look to be orignal and crisp. I also was going on vacation 2 days later to Brazil and wanted to enjoy a breezy style in the streets of Rio de Janeiro 🇧🇷

One of my favorite things about Geraldine is her willingness to be innovative with me when it comes to new styles I want to try. She doesn’t fear a hair challenge she embraces it and the result is beautiful.

I also really like that her braiding space is neat and nice. I didn’t have to worry about too much yapping or being in a cramped salon with a lot going on. This was a pristine and peaceful experience.

Geraldine is truly amazing. I contacted her at 7am after desperately searching for a braider. Not only did she reply promptly, but she was able to fit me into her schedule the same day. Coming from CT as a NY native, I had my old school hat on, assuming I would have a lengthy wait time and be in an uncomfortable setting but that wasn’t the case. She is kind, had great conversation, and is full of life!

Service: 10/10! She was swift, gentle and precise in her work. The ratio of braid to part was great and the fullness of my hair with knotless braids was top tier. Small knotless took 5 hours (with help from Auntie Ama ☺️)

Workspace: 10/10! I was surprised to see it was just she and I in a suite as opposed to the crowded shop experience I was used to growing up. Clean and accommodating.

Pricing: Fair for the quality of work and her labor (the days of expecting to get $80 braids are long gone so I understand the price when the quality is good.) She was kind enough to provide the hair.

I had not had my hair braided in over a year and as I researched over 10 braiders I kept trying to find someone in Harlem with good reviews. I stumbled upon Geraldine.

She offered everything I was looking for and her reviews and pictures of her work put my mind at ease. I sent her a message using one of her own inspo pics and a picture of my current hair. She replied and I was lucky enough to get an appointment for the next day. That night I washed and blow dried my hair and couldn't wait to be in her chair. When I arrived she was warm and friendly, gave me suggestions and even did a custom mix for my boho braids. Not only did she do the quickest braids I ever had. She can execute lots of styles and is a great communicator.

She was focused, gave me all her attention and was very gentle. I never felt any pulling or snagging. I'm so glad I trusted her, I'm so happy to have found an excellent hair braider. Everyone in my life is complimenting my hair. Believe the reviews she's worth her...
