I came to New York for medical treatment for a very rare cancer and decided to get my hair done in NYC. Being from Kansas City I was beyond excited to get the latest color and cut. However I went to a salon that ended up butchering my hair with a terrible haircut and giving me an orange and brass balayage makeover! This salon shad the audacity to offer to correct the color for an additional fifty dollars. I google searched salons near me that were open late as it was 930pm and I was leaving town in the morning. Red Market popped up I called and explained what happened and was told to come in. As soon as I stepped foot in Red Market I was treated with respect and pampered. Offered green tea or wine, my coat hung up, the simple gestures that depict class and professionalism. As I met my colorist Teela Janet and Simone my stylist I had no idea that these two women would impact my life and forever remain in my heart. I’m a mother or two toddlers who works full time as a registered nurse and am only 33 years old. Red Market and Simone and Teela Janet not only did an outstanding job with my color and cut but they stayed late to finish and even gave me a discount. If you are lucky enough to have Teela Janet and Simone work on your hair then you are in kind and extremely specialized hands! I’ve been seeing Kelsey since her days of working at a different salon in Hoboken NJ and BELIEVE ME, there is no other stylist in the world that I would make the trip into NYC to see, but Kelsey is just the best!

I have dark brown Hispanic hair that has a horrible tendency to pull super brassy but Kelsey has figured out how to combat that without totally frying my hair and she is just the master of BLONDE.

Kelsey is always super responsive and always makes time for me. I hadn’t seen her in 2 years because I was giving my hair a bleach break and growing out my natural brown to get it all healthy and regain some length after some stress induced hair loss. But I saw her this week for a low maintenance blonde balayage and she NAILED it. So glad to have my lighter locks back 🥰 and my newly sprouted grays hidden 😒.

Kelsey and Ashley at the Red Market Salon kept it real with me and colored my hair exactly how I wanted; I had complete faith in them throughout the entire process. They were honest and open during the whole operation. Whether it was lightening my hair, coloring it, or washing it, Kelsey put a high emphasis on the fact that she was respecting my hair. There were opportunities where Kelsey could have taken an easier, quicker route to lighten my hair.
