I won a custom design through a non-profit raffle but boy am I hooked! I have never sewn or have done anything like this so I was nervous, but Andrew was very supportive. He demonstrates and helps you 1:1 throughout the process.

My friend and I had a blast, the studio is setup nicely with all the supplies you need! We are totally going back to make more rugs.

The process takes about 3-4 hours but if you need more time you can return? The Scattered Kind team is very accommodating so don’t worry. My only con is the location, a bit out of the way for me (downtown Brooklyn area) but trust me when I saw it’s worth the trek. Scattered Kind offered an incredibly enjoyable weekend experience for me and my friends. I would recommend it to anyone, even if you're a total beginner to rug-making (me).

The process begins by submitting your designs two weeks prior to your class, and they take care of tracing and selecting yarn colors for you. Upon arrival, the instructor allowed us to swap colors to suit our personal preferences, which added to the delightful customization experience.

The instructor also taught us how to prep the tufting gun, how to use it, and various techniques to ensure we get flawless rug creations. The tufting process itself was incredibly relaxing, and everyone in our class was just chatting and admiring each other’s work.
